I'll see your Survivor and raise you Choke.

Awesome isn't the right word. But it's the first word that comes to mind.

I do indeed like Choke, but Survivor much more.

I'm about to watch the film of Choke for the first time this very evening! :)

The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold

I hate to be cliche since it's so popular, but:

The Road - Cormac McCarthy

there's a reason it's popular.

I really need to pick this one up--I love post apocalyptic/dystopian literature and I've heard wonderful things about McCarthy.

Runner up: Say You're One of Them, by Uwem Akpan

I've heard great, great things about this collection and picked up a copy of it at a trade show last year. Another one I really need to read.

And can I just go OT for a sec and remark how unbelievable it is that '99 was a decade ago? :wtf:

Yes, you can, because I'm doing the same thing. :p ;)

A Thousand Splendid Suns by Hosseini. That book, in equal parts, mesmerized and scarred me.

Love, love, love this book. It's definitely in my top ten of the last decade. I liked it even better than The Kite Runner.

Good Omens by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman.

My sister got me this for Christmas last year--yet another on my long 'must read' list!
