Favourite 'End-of...'

Hi guys,

I was thinking... What's everyone's favourite 'end-of...' moment? By this, I mean the end of the Teaser, Act I, II or III.

These don't have to come from your favourite episodes necessarily.

I'll start with three of mine:

End of Act II of Is There In Truth No Beauty?

Marvick's pleas that loving Miranda will kill you, followed by his own admission he loves her before he dies, coupled with Kirk and Miranda's 'look' and that accompanying music cue, make for a dramatic close.

End of Act III of The Enterprise Incident

Spock being slapped, his cold, calm request for execution info, and the exchange of looks, with the devastating music, really set us up for that final act.

End of Act I of The Deadly Years.

Not much needs to be said here, but Scott's reveal is one of the best cliffhanger moments for me in the series.

End of Teaser in Obsession.

That chilling birds eye view of the dead crewmen and the Catspaw music, all are used to great effect here.

What are your favourites?

I try not to consider things 'favorites', as I think that is unfair to other things I like, but I'll say this:

The fact that both Act II and Act III of City On The Edge Of Forever end with differently inflected versions of the line "Edith Keeler must die" stands out to me.

Not saying it's my favourite scene or anything but it stands out to me at this time. The ending of Friday's Child and Spock being very annoyed at the Captain and the Doctor's bloated egos and their bragging after Eleen's baby has been named after the both of them! :vulcan:

The Empath, end of Act 1, where our boys find the missing scientists....

"Spock's Brain" is inarguably the series' worst episode, but it's musical score did give us the greatest fadeout track. I like any third season fadeout that uses this track.
Well nothing is inarguably on the TOS board.
Have you seen the TNG episode where Crusher has an affair with her dead grandmother's ghost boyfriend. That episode is seriously so bad that I've never watched it al the way through.
And even if you restrict it to TOS I'd pick And the Children Shal Lead over Spock's Brain merely because of the shower curtain Mu Mu thing. And there's another couple of episodes I like less in TOS.

The thing that annoys me the most about And The Children Shall Lead is that one line of dialog less than ten words long, probably in Act One, and Kirk doesn't pull "Gorgan" out of his ass.

Not to get too far off subject, but there are a number of episodes I’d personally put below “Spock’s Brain” in terms of my level of enjoyment

Mudd’s Women
Alternative Factor
Who Mourns for Adonais
Catspaw
And the Children Shall Lead
Platos Stepchildren
Turnabout Intruder

Your sentence is non grammatical. The meaning is not obvious and I would have to think about it for a while to guess what you meant. How can I know if I agree or disagree with your statement?

I'm guessing after Spock told Kirk about the ancient marauders of Epsilon Indi, Kirk must have gone into the records computer of the area and dug up some information on them! Perhaps Gorgon was not the name of the alien but his title as leader of the group? :wtf:

Kirk intensely declaring “She was attacked! Red alert! Man battle stations!” Just as the scene shifts to exterior and the first few notes on the Constellation Theme plays...then fade out.

“Doomsday Machine”

Agreed, so here's my runner up:

End of Act Two of Balance of Terror.

Red alert / battle stations kicks in.
Kirk: "I hope we won't need your services, Bones."
McCoy: "Amen to that. You're taking a big gamble, Jim."
McCoy leaves the briefing room, Kirk follows, but Sulu is holding the door open. Kirk exits and the camera tracks with him and Sulu as they stride the corridor as music from "The Naked Time" plays over the shot of the busy hallway.

It's bursting with energy and urgency and still brings a chill to me. It's a hell of an act-ender.

One more:

"What is it cap'n?"
"Cestus Three as been destroyed." Boom. That's it. No Kirk out, just off to the opening titles.

I agree! I always wondered why Sulu waited for Kirk.
