Favourite Cute moment in Trek Lit

I'm sure there are moments in Trek Lit that make you stop and go "Aaahhhh", and not in a dopey Rom way. Is it a paragraph devoted to Spot's antics, that bit where Odo shapeshifts into a donkey for Molly's birthday? What made you feel gooey inside for a brief moment between photon torpedo blasts?


For me it was the revelation in Diane Carey's Final Frontier that young Jimmy Kirk thought that his middle name was Tank. I have this vision of a five-year-old Jimmy Tank Kirk trundling around his barn taking imaginary pot shots at chickens.

The thing is that it is so in character...

I love animals in Star Trek. For me, the biggest surprise in a cute way was when O`Brien presented his pet, a Tarantula called Christina. I only flinched for a second but then smiled because the hairy spider looks quite cute and O`Brien was so gentle with her. Nice, I would have liked it to meet her again.

Not that I would be happy to meet such a spider in one of the vegetable boxes in a supermarket.
