Favourite bit of the movie ?

Nero's Shadow

Captain
Captain
As we have all now seen the movie my favourite part is the attack on the U S S kelvin its breathtakin it never lets up for a single moment. Then comes the movie titles it sent a chill down my spine !! Great work JJ:techman:

My first time watching this film, I sat in the theater seat not knowing what to expect.
Then came the first 10 minutes of the film...

It was better than sex. I screamed to myself, OH MY ___!!! HOLY ___!!! I could not believe that what I saw was Star Trek...it is like walking on water facing the sunset on a warm spring evening. Completely surprised and overwhelmed from the feeling that I had.

Kirk: "Going back in time and changing history? That's cheating."

Spock: "A trick I learned... from an old friend."

(beat)

Spock: "Live long, and prosper."

Everything in that scene - the music, the acting, the transition from exposition to non-stop action through the climax of the film - is perfect.

When the Enterprise drops out of warp blasting everything to save Spock

The music, the moment, the magic.. it's Star Treks signature move and it was done to perfection

When Kirk says to Spock:

"See? We're gettin' to know eachother..." :vulcan::rommie:

And the whole end sequence showing the original crew at their full, operating the ship. :techman:

McCoy's introduction.

That was just plain brilliant, all the way through, from hearin' the voice to the warnin' that he might throw up on Kirk, the origin of the nickname Bones, all the way to the shared flask.

Of course, the only stuff I had a problem with durin' the movie, and I've seen it three times, is the Delta Vega stuff. Its all just too much coincidence - Kirk gets dumped off within a few miles of where Spock Prime is dumped off, and they're close to where Scotty has been exiled by Admiral Archer. Dear lord, its just piles on!

But I still love it, 'cause its Leonard Nimoy as Spock.

kelvin
old spock and kirk
when bones sneaks jim on the ship then kirk hears something important.

The whole sequence from the Kobayashi Maru test to Bones smuggling Kirk aboard, to his allergic reaction and Chekov --> I thought, yes, that's the TOS spirit, hilarious without bordering on embarrassing (like TNG's attempts at the same kind of humour in INS was).

The Kelvin-sequence was very powerful as well - loved to have seen more of George Kirk.

Pike actually being a more than competent captain - not some whimp that needs to be replaced by hero-Kirk

What's delicious about that moment for me is that you get to see Sulu and Chekov are the ones piloting, firing, and that no one is ordering them to- they showed up there on their own to kick some ass and save Spock. Really, really love that even the nobodys from TOS are competent people in this newTrek.

I like the baby delivery at the beginning and how dada Kirk was able to hear and discuss the baby with his wife before ramming the ship.

The Kelvin sequence had to be my favourite - especially as on second viewing I was with a tough as nails non-Trekkie and she was almost in tears. Good stuff.

Though the one liner moment goes to Spock. "No not really, not this time."
