The pickings are slim so far, but what the hell. So far what's your favourite superhero film of 2011?

The Green Hornet
Thor
Thor: Tales Of Asgard
X-Men: First Class
All Star Superman
Green Lantern
Green Lantern: Emerald Knights
Captain America: The First Avenger
Conan The Barbarian

I'm not distinguishing between live-action and animated because sometimes the animateds can be just as entertaining or even more so than live-action. Case in point, in my opinion: Green Lantern.

My favourite of 2011 goes to Captain America.

X-Men: First Class followed by Captain America: The First Avenger. I personally wouldn't count "Conan" as a superhero movie. It's more a sword and fantasy flick.

Today, I'm votin' for Captain America: The First Avenger.

Tomorrow, I may have voted for Thor or X-Men: First Class...

Those are my three favorite of the year, with Green Hornet & Emerald Knights roundin' out the top five.

Captain America takes the top prize with X-Men First Class not too far behind. At the bottom of the heap is Green Lantern (which is heartbreaking, since Green Lantern is my favorite superhero.)

Captain America: The First Avenger narrowly takes the top prize from X-Men: First Class. The latter film was actually a bit more ambitious in some ways, particularly thematically, but I think it rushed some things at the end; Captain America was the better package.

Thor was my fave. Always loved the character, and when I decided to start collecting comics, Thor was my first choice.

Cap and X-Men are two more solid entries on the Marvel side.

Last was Green Lantern. It could've been worse....but then so could the dump I just took. As a DC fan, as a Green Lantern fan, this is the super hero movie that I wanted made more than any. And it sucked. So much potential wasted, and hopefully it didn't turn the brass off towards making films out of a vast and varied stable of awesome characters.

Still, I hope for a GL sequel that will be what the first movie wasn't.

It was tough between Thor and X-Men:FC but Cap was right there as well.

I went for Thor cause Loki as played by Hiddelston was so good. Same for Fassbender in XM:FC, their villians were very sympathetic and relatable really. That's what kept Cap out of my running despite really loving the film Red Skull isn't as realized and nuanced as either Loki or Magneto and the screen play is to blame NOT that Hugo Weaving couldn't have delivered.

X-Men and Captain America were head and shoulders abovethe rest, though I have a soft spot for Green Lantern.

I don't think that's a screenplay issue. The Red Skull is simply not a nuanced character. As Ed Brubaker once noted, he has absolutely no redeeming qualities or sympathetic aspects; he's just pure Golden Age evil.

For whatever strange, bizarre, twisted reason, GL is the one I actually enjoyed the most. Or maybe I was just in an extra, extra good mood that day. lol

I really want to rate Captain America as the best, but as much as I loved Evans and the whole period look, the movie as a whole just felt curiously flat to me.
