STAR WARS. That's the name of the best movie in the group and my favorite movie of all time.

I saw SW in its first week in 1977 (at age 17) and about 10 more times that summer and fall. All I knew about it before seeing it was reading stories about it in Starlog and Time magazine, which called it the best movie of the year. That was when there were no VCRs or Internet, of course. So I went to the theaters with a lot of people. Seeing it was great because this was when the best theaters had only a single enormous screen and often showed the same movie for months. It was greatest movie of the year but lost the Oscar for best picture.

It's my favorite movie. I watch it several times a year. It's got the most amazing opening scene of any movie, great human characters, a single thrilling plot, action, and a little romance. Watching it requires nothing else. It changed film (in a good way) for the last 40 years. I speak like Obi-Wan whenever possible.

I saw ESB in its first week but have only seen it once or twice since. While I thought it had some good action scenes I didn't like it nearly as much as Star Wars. Luke's face is scarred (very sad), and I didn't want to be him anymore. The movie characters divide into a bunch of separate scenes that make the story weaker. Obi-wan, who was played by the best actor, is dead and has a small part. Luke spends the movie with a Muppet, and Han and Lei spend most of the movie acting shitty to each other. Lots of other parts are played by special effects or people in rubber suits. Cloud City looked like a cheap 1970s hotel on the inside; what happens with C3PO and Chewie is dumb. I don't remember much dialogue.

I waited on line outside the theatre for a day to buy advanced tickets for ROTJ. I saw it on its first day but thought that a lot of the things that were bad about Empire got worse. More split action and more characters in rubber suits.

The recent movies are all special effects with very few humans playing roles.

Yes. It definitely has that "something special." While I do think Empire is probably the better film, with all things that make for great film-making considered, if I pick one SW film to watch, it's always the original.

This has to be on of the sickest looking promos I've ever seen!

Way to go, Sky Movies!

Return of the Jedi was my favorite love that movie even though I am in the minority with in the fandom I love the original trilogy and I did like the prequel trilogy mostly
