Favorite SW Movie

These are all pretty close for me though. I'm a Prequel Lover. TPM has its flaws but it also has the Podrace and the Duel of the Fates and the first appearance of proper Jedi so it will always hold a special place in my heart.

ROTS is the topper for me for the sheer amount of content in it. So much is crammed into those two hours, and while Anakin's Fall isn't the greatest bit of writing, we get to see a war on a dozen different planets, the Battle of Coruscant is so much fun, it's the most screen time Palpatine ever has, I absolutely love Grevious, Obi-Wan vs. Anakin, and my personal favorite Yoda vs. Sidious.

Revenge of the Sith is very close.

I think they're all good except The Phantom Menace, and even that has its good points.

ESB is great. Don't get me wrong. But it's not standalone in any way shape or form. If I'm basing this as looking at a film on its own, ANH is the best. Plus it's just so much fun!

I don't think TPM is as bad as people let it on to be. I actually just rewatched the prequels and it too was the most standalone and despite Jar Jar, it really worked for me. ROTS is a better story but I think it suffers from being too focused on a bad performance. (Hayden is better here than in Clones though.) While I know they shot stuff for it, I feel the overall story suffers from not including things that are the ground work for the Rebellion.

All copies of AOTC need to be put in a bunker and never seen again. Dropped plot points. Terrible performances. Video game-sequel action sequences. The CGI is nice for the most part but the story and performances just bring this one way down in my opinion.

In any case, it's ESB by a country mile, followed by Star Wars and Return.

I'm pretty much right there with you. ROTS just edged out TESB as my favorite Star Wars film.

Wow. I don't get all the hate for AOTC. Yes the Anakin/Padme scenes are horrible.

But everything else is amazing! The Coruscant speeder chase! Obi-Wan being a bad ass detective on Kamino and verbally sparring with Jango! The Asteroid field chase! Obi-Wan vs Jango in the rain! Anakin going psycho and killing women and children! the Arena battle! the massive Battle of Geonosis! Yoda versus Dooku!

For me the order of favorite to least-favorite goes:

1. Empire
2. Hope
3. Jedi
4. Sith
5. Phantom
6. Clones

And if we have to include the theatrical Clone Wars film released in 2008 to help promote the launch of the weekly TV series then that movie would rank #7 and dead last. There are days I prefer Sith a little more than Jedi and others when the opposite applies, but it depends on my mood when I'm thinking about the plots of and scenes in both films or I'm watching them.
