Favorite set on Terok Nor/Deep Space Nine?

Ragitsu

Commodore
Commodore
Good afternoon.

What would you say is your favorite set (e.g. Quark's bar, the Replimat, the infirmary, et cetera) on this show's titular space station and why?

The Promenade

  • Confronting Vedek Winn in In the Hands of the Prophets
  • Odo and Garak talking over Raktajino in Way of the Warrior
  • Rom and Leeta discussing their wedding and Sisko and OBrien watching the Dominion fleet come through the wormhole in Call to Arms
  • The kiss in His Way
  • The walk in Badda Bing, Badda Bang
BTW, aren't Quarks, the Infirmary, the Jail, the Temple, the Replimat, etc., all part of the same set, being the Promenade?

Come to Quark's, Quark's is fun, come right now, don't walk - run!
Not to mention the ongoing performances with the greatest musical performers and talents of the 24th century:

Ops.

Several reasons why I like it:

- the bit about the commander's office being at the top, so everyone has to look up to it with respect. Gotta love Cardassian design. :cardie:

- the in-built transporter alcove

- open turbolift!
I love it because it's a set made for an acting presence like Avery Brooks, also there's a bit of irony involving race relations to visualize Caucasians looking up to a Black man. For me, Operations was seen in a grand scale the cameras seemed to move efficiently for medium shots or a dolly, also the designs was beautiful and very alien. I had a feeling the money was spent just in case DS9 became as big a hit as TNG and easily transition the set to the silver screen. Before JJ Abrams sets I thought the DS9 sets were the best Star Trek sets I'd ever seen.

No "1990s New Age Tribal Chants of Central America" from Chakotay?
It think that Quark did sort that one out because it's not a selling product. ;)

Honestly, Chakotay is one of my favorite characters but I hate the "Hollywood Tribe" nonsense they came up with. They should have given him a proper tribe with a real background and none of the nonsense.

I wonder if Maj. Nerys is a fan of Pat Benatar.
You're giving me new ideas! :bolian:

Maybe I should add major Kira sings the songs of Pat Benatar to my posters of performance in my previous post.

Promenade is like 5 sets in one. But ops was really well designed. I love how it has levels and a active lift and steps up to Sisko's office. The Viewscreen was also a circle making it different from anything before it.
