Favorite Nog moments!

With the passing of Eisenberg I felt this seemed like a good idea to honor him. My top 3 would be: 1 Him telling Sisko why he wanted to be in Starfleet so much. 2 His double date with Jake. Still imature but it was stuff like this that showed how people with cultural differeces can be friends despite that. 3 Nog refusing to walk with Garak behind him because of what happened when Garak held him hostage the previous season. Little Green Men and The Magnificient Ferengi are among my favorite Nog (and Ferengi) episodes.

Nog and Jake trying to live with each other in a living quarter - one of them full of discipline, the other one very sloppy. Hilarious.

Early in the series O'Briens wife started a school and Jake had a hard time adjusting; there was an incident involving trust or something like that and a frustrated Nog blurted out ...'Vulcans have no honor'... to the astonishment of the class.

hummmm think I'll start re-watching the series.

Nog and Jake's friendship and wanting to join Starfleet. That it wasn't a joke he proved to Sisko that he was worthy to be a starfleet officer.

My fav Nog eps. One when he and Jake move in together and they both have issues with the other as a room mate. The other would be the episode where red squad is on a defiant class vessel. Others too.. When he didn't want to leave the holodeck due to his leg. It was a powerful episode.

Nog's part in that entire episode proved he really was a good Ferengi.

1- Agreed on the scene where Nog pleads with Sisko to help him join Starfleet. Even the attempted bribe.
2- Definitely Nog's mistrust of Garak in Rocks & Shoals.
3- My personal favorite, Nog "arrests" Martok.

Because I watched it last night, Nog finally explaining to Vic why he is afraid to go back into the real world at the end of It's Only a Paper Moon.

"Courage comes in all sizes." I watched this episode in Aron's honor. It seemed the one that showed that it took a big man to play Nog.

"In The Cards" is one of my all time favorites. Nog and Jake just wanted to cheer up Captain Sisko and ended up cheering up everyone.I

NOG: Exploding?
SISKO: We may be going into a combat situation. Do think you're ready for that, Cadet?
NOG: Sir. Yes, sir. Absolutely, sir.
SISKO: I'm glad to hear it. Report to the bridge.
NOG: Aye, sir. (as he leaves) Exploding?

NOG: He may have been a hero. He may even have been a great man. But in the end he was a bad captain.

Jake and Nog's whole storylines in Progress and In The Cards are really fun. I always think back really fondly on their story in Progress, it's part of my earliest memories of getting into Star Trek and seeing new Star Trek air for the first time and I think that storyline and episode still holds up really well today. I think rather fondly of It's Only a Paper Moon and it's message about losing yourself to depression and fictional worlds rather than face the real world and being able to overcome that state and those feelings.
It was really cool seeing this bit character transform over the years into a really fleshed out and well-defined person.

So many. It's hard to pick one. But one that always sticks out for me is in Heart of Stone, where he tells Sisko why he wants join Starfleet.

I'm watching various Nog videos on Youtube. Just watched the O'Brien/Nog Great Material Continuum speech. Just one of many amazing Nog Moments.

I can't pick a single favorite. I loved how his friendship developed with Jake. That always felt so real to me, and they never shied away from showing the challenges in a friendship as well as the good times.

His determination and the seriousness with which he took his chosen life path. He really grew up on the show, and Aron always portrayed that with such heart and nuance.

His mistrust of Garak on the planet and Garak's approval of that mistrust. Such a lovely little moment between two of my favorite main-adjacent cast.

His confrontation of the unruly Klingons on DS9.

His PTSD arc. Again, nuanced, powerful, painful and real. His complex relationship with his dad and uncle. What little we saw of his relationship with Leeta and how he accepted her despite being abandoned by his birth mother.

Such a wonderful character. And it's made so much better by knowing the man who played him also had such heart and courage. It's rare that the two align.
