The Graeme Harper thread got me thinking-- who is everyone's new series director? So I made a poll. Because I am arbitrary and cruel, I removed everyone who only directed episodes in one season. (Which is a bit of a shame, since it removed some strong contenders like Joe Ahearne, Charles Palmer, and Hettie Macdonald.)

Here are the episodes each did:

Euros Lyn
-- "The End of the World"
-- "The Unquiet Dead"
-- "Regeneration Cutaway"
-- "Tooth and Claw"
-- "The Girl in the Fireplace"
-- "The Idiot’s Lantern"
-- "Fear Her"
-- "The Runaway Bride"
-- "Silence in the Library"
-- "Forest of the Dead"
-- "Music of the Spheres"

James Hawes
-- "The Empty Child"
-- "The Doctor Dances"
-- "The Christmas Invasion"
-- "New Earth"
-- "School Reunion"

Graeme Harper
-- "Rise of the Cybermen"
-- "The Age of Steel"
-- "Army of Ghosts"
-- "Doomsday"
-- "42"
-- "Utopia"
-- "Time Crash"
-- "Planet of the Ood"
-- "The Unicorn and the Wasp"
-- "Turn Left"
-- "The Stolen Earth"
-- "Journey’s End"

James Strong
-- "The Impossible Planet"
-- "The Satan Pit"
-- "Daleks in Manhattan"
-- "Evolution of the Daleks"
-- "Voyage of the Damned"
-- "Partners in Crime"

Colin Teague
-- "The Sound of Drums"
-- "Last of the Time Lords"
-- "The Fires of Pompeii"

Like I said in the Graeme Harper thread, I think he's one of the best Doctor Who directors period, so my vote obviously goes to him.

I like Euros Lyn. He achieves something that only great directors can do: he is interesting without being distracting. Also, he manages to make each of his episodes feel very different to one another, so much so that I was surprised when I saw which ones he'd done.

I went with Harper. He successfully helms many of the "event" episodes, which often prove to be some of the most memorable in the series: Cybermen! Daleks! Rose's farewell! Derek Jacobi/The Master! 5th & 10th! Agatha Christie! Rose's return! Davros!

Euros Lyn for the win! I always look forward to his episodes, and have ever since "The End of the World". He has a certain style, a certain panache. Though his two-parter this year was minorly disappointing. Harper is solid, but I also really like Colin Teague just based on his small sampling, and I hope we see more from him in the coming years.

Euros Lyn for me because of his unusual name ;)

Graeme Harper a very very close second.

Would be interesting to see who the writers are for those episodes and perhaps do a poll of best writer/director teaming.
