Favorite "Discovery" character so far?

From what we have learned to date which one is your favorite? . To me it's eitther the doug Jones alien character or the gay scientist who studies fungus. I like the idea of exploring an new alien character and the other character makes me think he is going to be a nerd and I am always a sucker for that type of character.

I'd say it is devinitely Llewellyn Shmitz who played in the ninth episode the third ensign from the right in the corridor, while the crew was walking by. He did not have a talking role, but his face impression (if you could make it out under all the make-up) was saying it all, after the "big" incident in the transporter room. I hope his role will be expanded like Colm Meaneys Miles O'Brian was, who did not even have a full name in the TNG pilot. They could base an entire spin-off only on him if it where up to me.

Too early to tell at this point. The EMH turned out to be my favorite character on VOYAGER, but I couldn't have predicted that from the brief description in the series bible.

Not nearly enough information to tell favorites. I'm hoping that the answer will become Number One as she's going to be the lead. But I do like Jason Issacs so that's a good possibility.

It's Tuvok. And that aside, I have to agree, because I like James Frain and I like Sonequa Martin-Green, and there the only two of the cast I feel really familiar with. But, Frain is playing a character that I'm also familiar with and like, so, he's winning so far. Like cultcross said, though, that stands to change as we get to know Number One.

Exactly, this thread is pointless. No one has a favorite character yet, it's simply not possible when we don't know the characters. Not even Sarek counts because we don't know how he'll be portrayed, he could be the best thing about Discovery or the worst or probably something in between.
