Nasty humour itself is okay, provided it's funny. The problem with a lot of Family Guy these days is that it just isn't funny. And a lot of the nasty jokes are just done for the sake of being nasty with nothing funny to say. There's just a bunch of slanderous comments with no jokes to it. Make it funny or don't even bother.

I don't think post-relaunch Family Guy has ever been as good as it was pre-cancellation, but from 2005 to the end of the 2007-2008 season it was still very solid, IMO. I think the show started to really fall apart starting with the 2008-2009 season.
