I live AZ so I get it later than everyone else, so sadly I can't take part in the live discussions. I'm really looking forward to it though, and I probably will read through some of the commentary after I see it.

I'm in CA, so same here, although I doubt I'd be yakking online at the same time as watching any show. If it's good enough to watch, I'd rather focus on it exclusively. I'll be back Monday nite to chime in. Hope this is another goodun.

I almost decided to give up on the show until the last 30 seconds and the preview for next week.
I just want to see how long it takes before they run out of hair gel for the son character.
I don't even know any of the characters names.

Wow, real bad "small world" syndrome tonight. Out of millions of kids in the Boston area they happen to find not 1 but 2 that are related to someone in a band of 300 survivors. Then, the new doctor? just happens to have a very close connection to the lead character?
You know all those day time soaps that got canceled? I think we found who hired the writers.

Not only is the Boston survivor community a small one, the limited ability to travel effectively makes it even smaller. The writing on the show has been rather good, especially the character work. The confrontation between Wyle and Weber was a setpiece "shades of grey." The trouble so far is that people don't actually much like shades of grey, it makes things kind of dull. When you throw in things like a character talking about most people losing their faith, you just don't get a fanboy audience.
The show has even tried to directly address the fundamental absurdity of space invaders. The mystical bond between skitter and harnessed hinted at in the final shot suggests they're going to fudge the science big time, though. This show is heavily serialized too and those are nearly impossible to carry off. Final prognosis is not good.

I think this show will get progresivly better over time. At least the aliens do think a little. Killing the kids in front of Hal to send a message. Also when they invade, EMP the whole planet first then invade, that is pretty smart. If the ID4 aliens did that first the humans would not have stood a chance.
