So what do you think of the new candidates? Is it going to be another year of mass carnage (tempered only by the strike and the fact that the suits can't cancel everything?) Any really promising ones? Any you'd peg as the next Bionic Woman? C'mon out on the limb with me, the air is bracing out here!

My Favorites
My Own Worst Enemy - Christian Slater is bound to be both charming and scary in this spy vs schlub version of Jekyl & Hyde. Mainstream appeal will help assure its success.
Harper's Island - Wedding guests trapped on an island are menaced by a killer; serialized plotline. If they do this right (teen slasher meets Agatha Christie), they could have finally tapped into the Lost formula (but probably minus the sf/f content - which will be a plus for the mainstream audience).
Secret Millionaire - Reality series in which millionaires are forced to work for minimum wage among people who they wouldn't even allow to park their car at the country club. This could be the first reality series that appeals to me.
Predictions: First Blood
Fringe will die a quick death. Too cliched, with leads who are far from being Mulder & Scully.
Dollhouse will be daring and different, but that won't stop audiences from changing the channel due to confusion and indifference unless the premise becomes a lot more focused than I've seen indicated.
Eleventh Hour will die quickly - it's not really a strong sci fi premise, but lacks the element that appeals to the police procedural crowd, the satisfaction of seeing evildoers punished for sins of the black/white sort. The bad guys "use science for nefarious reasons," that's too esoteric for the CSI crowd.
Kings - strip away its Bible-story metaphor, and you've got a nighttime soap about a powerful family. The market for that isn't strong: Cane flopped, Dirty Sexy Money barely survived.
Knight Rider - the nostalgia factor will wear off quickly as everyone realizes how silly this show is.
Overall, the networks will be glad they took the conservative route and didn't greenlight many new series. Don't get too attached to anything...
