Fact Finding...

The quest for truth, my question is what scene in Trek stands out for you as an example of looking for the truth...

There are many examples, one that stands out for me is after the fight on K-7 between several of the Enterpise crew and the Klingons, Kirk is looking for answers, and the answers he gets always bring a smile to my face. Espically Scotty's, they could insult Kirk, the Federation, but don't dis the Enterprise, the look on Kirks face is priceless, when he finds out only after they insulted the Enterprise did he start the fight...:)

^^ that was a funny scene, although it was blatantly obvious where that conversation was going imo

which is all part of the fun

As a more serious example, the Drumhead was a brilliant look at the McCarthy type hearings and how people insist upon finding the truth only as they suspect it to be, and not how it really may be.

of course, there is also Picard's chewing out of Wesley in First Duty.

"Duet" and "The Wire" from DS9 both are excellent searches for the truth.

Bashir: What I want to know is, out of all the stories you told me which ones
were true and which ones weren't?
Garak: My dear doctor...they're all true.
Bashir: Even the lies?
Garak: Especially the lies.

I love that Garak/Bashir scene.

The first thing that came to mind was when Odo and Kira spoke after Things Past. I didn't enjoy the episode that much, but Odo admitting he wasn't quite the hero she thought he was brought some nice touch to the characters past.
