"Faces" (spoilers)

Rom's Sehlat

I thought that the Vidiians were very scary (again). The killing of Durst so that one Vidiian could use his face was downright creepy. These guys have no holding back about just killing a person- and then using his face!

I did enjoy seeing Roxann Dawson appear as completely human. I think she is very pretty. It was also good to see a Klingon, albeit non in a good way. I really dislike these Vidiians... But I expect to see very few Klingons because we're in the Delta Quadrant.

I just watched this episode last night. :bolian: It is quite disturbing, and the fact that Durst's death isn't really acknowledged by anyone at the end of the episode makes it lose some of its impact.

Another equally disturbing moment I also saw yesterday was an early TNG episode where the paristes take over the top brass at Starfleet, and Picard and Riker literally blow off the admirals head with their phasers. Gotta love early TOS and TNG phasers that actually vapourized or caused severe bodily harm, instead of the actor just falling over.

In TOS they wanted to show off their special "fading out" effects with the phasers. But nowadays they use phasers like guns in a western-- all the time, and all they do is cause flesh wounds on the heroes and inflict death blows on the enemies.

Memory Alpha said that Durst was the first casualty in VOY. And nobody even acknowledges it?! I guess I failed to notice the lack of mentioning him. I remember when Captain Kirk would mourn the loss of a REDSHIRT! And he had more people than Voyager.

Why do you have spoilers in your title? Faces first aired 16 years ago.

Yes, I realize there are new trekkies on the board who haven't seen many of the episodes, but it would be tough to avoid spoilers since many of the threads give way elements of many episdoes. More than half of the Caption This Picture contest on the TNG forum gives away a major event in TNG"s Naked Now.

I've learned the adage "better safe than sorry." I've learned better to have more warning labels than fewer.

Durst was hardly the first casualty on VOY, what about the XO, CMO and all those other folks in "Caretaker"?!

Good point. I do remember that now (duh!), but I failed to bring that up. Perhaps all those deaths did sort of harden the crew against losing any more of their shipmates.

Not that I liked the doctor anyway. He had seemed, I don't know, creepy?
