Fable II--worth it?

I've been looking for a new game to help pass the time until Dragon Age: Origins and Modern Warfare 2 drop in November, and I've been thinking about trying Fable II. I never played the first game, which didn't look very appealing at all, and I've heard some mixed reviews on the second one. Is it worth checking out?

There's a demo you can try on Live now. And once you hit the end, if you like the game, you can directly continue into the main game if you buy the disc (or the paid episodes of the game).

Personally, I enjoyed it for what it was. Of course it didn't meet all the promises, but I think it did a lot of interesting things. At the very least, it made good use of the one save file per game mechanic.

I gave it a 8.5 score, it was a good RPG game with many wonderful elements though its not perfect as it feels a little short for an RPG and the world feels a little small. CO-OP is pretty tacked on but the combat, story and the ability to grow a character into what you want along with the wonderful array of characters and voice acting makes it a nice game to play.

The game itself is rather cheap and there is a new edition out that includes both DLC's with it and still over £10 cheaper than a standard game price (in UK anyway) so I would get it.

Fun game - a somewhat shallow RPG but it tells a fun story, and I got a kick out of experimenting with the good/evil elements, particuarly how you could get NPCs to love/hate/fear you depending on how you played the game. And graphically it's just beautiful.

The multiplayer/co-op aspect is lame, though, and I never bothered to spend much time with it.

At the prices you can get now, yeah it's worth it. Full Price would be a debate, but for $30-$40 it is a good value.
