Extraterrorestrial Alien Encounter

Anyone remember this Disney attraction? I remember it well. Unusually dark for a Disney ride, it's a shame it didn't have a long tenure as a ride, but I enjoyed it.

I remember the whole concept of X.S. Tech and an interplanetary teleporter. Real interesting stuff, I thought. The whole premise of a transporter operating across interstellar distances, an experiment gone wrong. As a Trekkie I found that ride to be interesting, in the spring of 1997 when I rode it for the first time.

Anyone else remember this Disney attraction? Any thoughts on it?

I found it fun, but I recall it scared the begeezus out of some younger kids. For me, it was a bit dull, and I was more interested in the cool "it's right behind you" effects.

I hear it's now been made "kid friendly" with Stitch being the alien in question.

It has. Sadly. This attraction was a favorite Disney attraction of mine.

I really thought it was an inspiring ride from a sci-fi standpoint. I often wonder how the Trek-verse might have treated a world similar to X.S. Tech.

Growing up in Orlando meant that theme park rides served to inspire some of my creative writings in the fanfiction arena.
