Explain The Origin Of Your Username...

GemHaters

Captain
I'm fully aware that most of the username's here are self-explanatory, but for those who aren't, go ahead and tell us where you got it.

(Sorry if this has already been done, just trying to have some fun)

I'm pretty sure mine is obvious, but...
Gem Haters=Jem'Hadar....it's an inside joke, just what I like to call them...

um, Highlander fan...

Methos is the oldest immortal in the highlander universe. At least 5,000 years old he does not remember his life before taking his first head. He is sybaritic, self centered, and reluctantly heroic...

The first time you meet him in the Highlander series, he's chilling on the floor, reading a book in ancient sanskrit, with a beer and a pizza... fantastic character and one I sympathise with.

I always found morally ambiguous characters to be the most interesting ones, and Methos is one of the most morally ambiguous characters you'll come across...

JB2005, my initials and 2005 because that's the date on my email address and I was feeling lazy when I signed up to the BBS!

I originally wanted infinit, short for infinity, but that was taken. So I switched out the t with the x. I first used the name infinix for my college email account and have tried to use the name when I can on the very few forums that I participate in.

Then years later, I found out there is an IT consulting company called infinix at www.infinix.com Too bad the company doesn't quite seem top rate, otherwise I'd try to work for them.

randomly, we did a game like this on another forum...

the game was to head over to UrbanDictionary and type in your username, then post the first one that came up...

some of them are actually quite funny, but it doesn't work for everyone sadly

ETA Anti Social Behaviour Order - Used against unruly youths who cannot conform to normal society's rules and regulations.
Zapruder - To watch a film over and over intently to analyze it a la the Zapruder film of the JFK assassination.

Not sure how the extra "D" got in there - I blame predictive text.

Clever!

Corporal captain is a fictitious rank in the M*A*S*H episode Welcome to Korea, made up to get enlisted man Radar into an officers' club.

Since ranks here on the BBS are fictions, in that no one actually holds them, I thought using a pretend rank as my name, signifying a nobody pretending to be a somebody, was entirely appropriate. ;)

Q (to you and me)

Not proper grammer, but a fun play on letters. Besides, my wife always tells me that I act like I know everything (which, of course, is true when you're a Q)

My current nickname first came up looong ago, when I was first playing a video game known as "Zeus: Master of Olympus". I needed something vaguely Greek-sounding, so I just typed "calling" (i.e. one who calls) into translator and got "Kalontas", so I typed that in game and voila. Later I ended up using it on a fansite of said game, and since then, it stuck to me and I'm feeling fine about it.

Why "one who calls"? I think it was because of one funny saying one local politician said about another one, but I doubt many people would know what I'm talking about if I presented the names and details.

My current one
Why we are all or have been

"Guilty as Hell"

about some thing.
have a great day everyone.
