Explain The Origin Of Your Signature

Mine is a quote from a machinima of a fanfiction. It always struck me as being a really badass thing to say.

It's from the series started by the legendarily bad Full-Life Consequences, although I'm not sure which one.

Uh, the origin of my signature is Desmond Tutu.
I tend to favor the wisdom or humor of great leaders...

I just throw in lines from Star Trek shows I like, ranging from the profound to the comedic. ("Captain, this ship will NOT survive the formation of the Cosmos!") I've had this one for a while because I haven't been motivated to change it recently. I'd love to use a big of dialogue from TVH, but it's too lengthy for the sig limit.

@JiNX-01: Is that from his God has a Dream?

The line I want to use is:
McCoy: You're proposing that we go backwards in time, find humpback whales, then bring them foward in time, drop 'em off, and hope to hell they tell this probe what to do with itself!?
Kirk: That's the general idea.
McCoy: Well, that's crazy!

Hey, love your avatar!!:D

Oh, and cool sig:lol:

From the song Amused to Death, by Roger Waters.

One of my favorite tunes.

From a Japanese T-shirt. I like the incongruity of the wording, and I just like the word "nifty".

My current signature is from a Babylon Five RPG sourcebook, of all things. It's a quote from the Book of G'Kar, as the author-character describes how he found enlightenment. He's one of my absolute favourite fictional characters, and one I find truly inspiring. The wider context of the quote is "On the descent of the Narn into the second darkness". The message that loss, pain, anger, helplessness or despair might actually have an in-built escape hatch, helping open your eyes to your need and potential to create a better future, is one I find moving and relevant. The line between negative and positive experience becomes very blurred sometimes, and we must ultimately accept both that we are what our lives have made us, and that we have the ability and the calling to better ourselves and others. There comes a point when there's no other option but to strive for better things, because that's all you have left. And through this you find meaning, and wisdom, and strength, and hope. When all is ashes, you have nothing left to do but start another fire. :)

A very poignant scene that brings tears to my eyes every time I watch it. One of my favorite ever characters.

Other sigs I have been known to use:

"Boom. Boom boom boom. Boom boom. BOOM. Have a nice day." - Susan Ivanova

"I drank WHAT?!?" - Socrates

"No urban night is like the night [in NYC]...here is our poetry, for we have pulled down the stars to our will." - Ezra Pound

“War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things; the decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks nothing worth a war, is worse. A man who has nothing which he is willing to fight for, nothing which he cares more about than his personal safety, is a miserable creature who has no chance of being free, unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself. ” ― John Stuart Mill

Mine is part of a poem (translated) by Rilke, that I like and feel a connection too.
And an organisation I support.

TerokNor

It's a Garak quote, because I love Garak. He has a lot of great lines, but this one is my favorite.
