Exactly 41 Years Ago ...

"The Man Trap" aired and a franchise was born.
Just thought it'd be adequate to at least mention it. I think I'll start a TOS-in-aired-order-marathon today! :bolian:

Yay! We're coming up on the 40th anniversary of the birth of the Mirror Universe, too. (Hence the avatar, everyone do MU avatars dammit!)

I was still 8 years old and I had just seen an hour of television that would completely change how I would forever perceive Science Fiction.

It was also the first TV show I was allowed to stay up late for on a school night.

I also, had just fallen completely in love with a second, major, inanimate object, the ENTERPRISE!
(my hand-made, quilted bed pillow given to me by my grandma when I was 6 years old, being the first.)

And because of this I think I built about 15 of the AMT model ENTERPRISE kits between the age of 9 and 20 (1967-1979).
I still have the parts to the first kit packed away some place and have at least 6 unopened kits waiting for my retirement years.

I could do a screen cap of Eric Braeden as the Nazi officer in The Rat Patrol... :D

I was 3, almost 4 at the time and didn't actually discover TOS until syndication (circa 1973-ish). Though I do have one early stray memory about seeing Spock on screen as a 5 or 6 year old. Mom and dad weren't SF fans, so the channel got changed shortly after.

It was Vicky Rice who got me into the stripped syndie run at the age of 10 or 11. (Wonder whatever happened to that girl?) :)

Star Trek's Lonely Harts Club Band
==================================
It was 41 years ago today
Gene Roddenberry and friends did play
So let me present to all of you
Star Trek's lonely hearts club band

I don't really want to start the show
However, a singer's gonna sing a song
And I want everyone to sing along

So let me introduce to you
The one and only Billy Shears
Star Trek's lonely hearts club band

Billy Shears

What would you do if I sang out of tune
Would you stand up and walk out on me

Lend my your ear and I'll try to sing a song
And I'll try not to sing out of key

Oh I get by with a little help from the fans
Oh I get high with a little help from the fans

Do you need anybody
I need somebody to love

Could it be anybody
I want somebody to love

* Smiles ear to ear *

I was 1 year, 3 months, and 3 weeks old.

I'm told that I watched TOS during first runs, but I can't vouch for that. I do know that I fell in love with TOS in syndication when I was 7 years old.

Star Trek was the born the same year I was (but not the same day or month, darn it!). I mean, seriously, for a trek geek, how cool would that have been? Happy Birthday Star Trek! And many many more!

Happy Birthday Star Trek!!!!!

Forty candles was too much for the Enterprise crew when the chef brought the cake to the bridge. Kirk however, couldnt wait to compete with Scotty in the weight-gain contest they had started, that would last them until their last mission.

I wasnt born until January 84, the year Search for Spock was released, so Trek was well under way by then.

Been a fan since, oooh, about 1990 ish, around there, started with TOS, that was my first Trek, and the best one id like to add.
