I have a Compaq Evo N600c PIII 1.06Ghz laptop that I purchased a few months ago. The laptop is wonderful, and is a real workhorse. My problem started the other day. I just purchased a new battery to replace the one that came with the laptop that was old and nonfunctional. I installed the battery and it worked fine for the first few days. However, this afternoon when I tried to power it on, the laptop wouldn't start. It didn't respond to the power switch, and when you plugged the AC adapter into the connector in back, none of the indicator lights would come on.
So I went to the HP forum, and found the reference to the "usual voodoo" (Fn key+power switch+F11 until lights cycle). I removed the battery and tried it with success. I was able to start my system. So, I shut it down and put the battery back in and hit power. Nothing. I hit power again, nothing. As soon as I clicked the latch to release the battery, the laptop powered on. I don't know what to do. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
J.
