Although Jaromir Jagr is well past his prime, as is Dominic Hasek, who just signed with Spartak Moscow, the move of Nobokov to the KHL from the NHL could represent a shift from being in retirement age "names" to promote the KHL to recruiting younger talent to put it on par with or better than the NHL. No one may think they care about Nobokov, but this could represent an alarming change to which quality players go to which league.
Granted, Jagr, Hasek, and Nobokov are from Eastern European countries so this makes sense, the fact that a notable NHL goalie is going back to Eastern Europe to play in his prime still could signal a slippery slope that the NHL is no longer the top tier.
Could anyone see Blake Geoffrion in a Lokomotiv uniform?
