Ever Thought About This: What if.........

the OO hadn't of been destroyed/captured in the failed attacked on the FHP.

Would they have later, stealthy, prevented the Union from joining the Dominion and esp having them later establish a home base on their world.

I think Tain would have done his dead-level-best to kill Dukat and undermine anything he tried to do.

If the Order hadn't fallen, there wouldn't have been reason for Dukat to go to the Dominion for military support. It was the fall of the Order that led to the civilian government takin' over as quickly as they did...sure there were movements & such, but without the Order, well, that was it.

Dukat would never have become the threat that he did, that's for sure. The Order would have continued to keep tabs on him, and any other doof with delusions of granduer.

And don't forget, Tain was "retired" - it was the threat of the Dominion that put him back into action, and he seemed pretty focussed on that one thing.

If the OO survived, the entire series would've changed from S4 onwards. No Civilian Uprising on Cardassia, no Cardassian-Klingon War, no Fed-Klingon War, the Maquis never grow in power and Eddington might not defect, the Dominion probably doesn't come to crippled Cardassia's aid since they don't need it and the war probably wouldn't last as long without the Dominion having an AQ foothold.

If the Order had survived, the Dominion War would never have occured. The Dominion knew they didn't stand a chance against the four major powers and would probably have maintained a 'cold war' status with the AQ powers. I think the Dominion would have stayed in the Gamma Quadrant and bided their time.

As evidenced in the series, Dukat was the guy who switched sides depending on where the power was. If the Order had stayed intact he would have worked form them and would never have attempted to arrange an alliance with the Dominion. It was the Klingon war, Cardassia's descent to a third rate power and his own lust for power that led dukat do what he did, all of which resulted from the fall of the Obsidian order.
