Episodes without fisticuffs.

I've been rewatching TOS lately, and it struck me how few episodes do not feature at least one (hilariously bad) fistfight.
So, I'd like to compile an exhaustive list of all episodes without fistfights.

So far, my list contains these items:

Editing the list:

- The Lights of Zetar.
- Maybe one of the halves of The Menagerie?
- The Corbomite Maneuver
- Balance of Terror
- The Conscience of the King
- The Ultimate Computer

"Court Martial" has no fist fight? Is there any chance you follow some other part of the Star Trek franchise, and don't know dick about TOS?

Edit: Sorry if that came across a little harsh.

“Charlie X” and “The Corbomite Maneuver” off of the top of my head. Also, “Balance of Terror”.

I think "Charlie X" has a scuffle on the bridge that counts as a fight. YMMV.

You're correct that "Corbomite" and "Balance" have no fistfights. "The Conscience of the King" is another one. And "The Ultimate Computer."

Also, some of the fights were epic and well-choreographed.
All the fights were epic.

What's the definition of fisticuffs anyway?
Is it Kirk slapping some fool down in a single punch? Like in Squire of Gothos?
When Spock just constantly slapped the salt-monster was it fisticuffs?

How about "The Immunity Syndrome", "The Empath", "Wolf in the Fold", "Deadly Years", "That Which Survives?, "Turnabout Intruder", "Metamorphosis", "The Mark of Gideon"

Oh, yeah, in WIF there's a great little fight scene, when Redjac realizes that Kirk and Spock have figured it out. It (occupying Hengist's body) jumps up, tosses everyone off, throws down some barriers, and then delivers a sweet kick to Kirk that sends him flying back against the bulkhead. It's one of the few times anyone gets the drop on Kirk in a fight - must be that advanced Jack the Ripper/dawn of time-spawned demon knowledge and experience. Kirk then smokes Hengist/it with a wicked cross.

In MOG Spock tosses one Gideon guard down the corridor after nerve-pinching the other one. I'm not sure if that's "fisticuffs" either. And in all of the others that you mentioned - TIS, EMP, DY, TWS, TI, and MET - I'm pretty sure you are right that they have no fight scenes.

Well the definition is "a fistfight, usually between only two persons" so I would think that there should be some aspect of one on one. Kirk v Finney or Kirk v Finnegan, etc.

Kirk comes close to belting him, but then mommy and daddy fizzle in out of nowhere and scuttle Charlie back home. It's close enough that I'd count it as one as well.

^^those sound about right. I recall "Turnabout" coming close with Janice-Kirk about to slap (if not outright pummel (using fists outright, fisticuffs?) Kirk-Lester in a corridor, but I don't think it counts.

"Gideon" I'm sure had a fight between Kirk and escaping the goons of the week.

The others didn't have anything that I recall that would begin to qualify... good catches, thanks!

I'll take the "hilariously bad" fistfights of TOS over the static, amateur, passionless, barely believable action scenes in later Treks any day.

- Court Martial. I'm not certain, but I think it's fistfight-free.

Have I missed any?

You left out “The Omega Glory.”

{massive eyeroll}

Obviously, “Court Martial” has a fight. And if you mean "hilariously bad" as in “obvious stunt doubles” then yeah, that was a lame one. “Space Seed” was also guilty of it, as were others. However, most of the fights where Shatner did his own brawling were incredible. He had excellent physical ability and control over his body. He was a master at Stage Combat (“The Gamesters of Triskelion” is a great example of this).

I dunno, I think you posted just to get a rise out of people. The post is kinda trollish, IMO.

The one thing that none of the other series have been able to re-capture is the epic, unapologetic mano-y-mano combat of TOS. Even the films were generally devoid of it (although Kirk vs. Kruge was pretty awesome).

Kirkfu for the win.

I would have loved to see Janeway beat the piss out of Chakotay.

The Cage. The combat was done with weapons instead of fists.

That reminded me of this quote from Roddenberry after the original pilot was rejected.

I sort of understood [NBC's verdict]," he said. "I wrote and produced what I thought was a highly imaginative idea, and I realized I had gone too far. I should actually have ended it with a fistfight between the hero and the villain if I wanted it on television […] because that's the way shows were being made at the time. The great mass audience would say, 'Well, if you don't have a fistfight when it's ended, how do we know that's the finish?,' and things like that."
