Maybe the OP was thinking of the Lost in Space episode "Flight into the Future" where the cast sees strange illusions. They fight them off by yelling quite loudly "it's an illusion!" BOIING! Gone.

What's to CGI? The whole thing took place, wonderfully, on an empty soundstage.

I agree beaker, I think that's one of the attractions of the episode. But then I always liked The Empath more than most people anyway.

I've always liked the Empath. It stood on its story alone, which was pretty good.

What's to CGI? The whole thing took place, wonderfully, on an empty soundstage.

They didn't need to do much. Just some distant shadowy stuff in the far backgrounds. Or added eerie background noises.
