"Epic Pirate" Music

Looking for some advice on finding what I am terming "epic pirate" music. Mods, if this is better suited to another forum, by all means, move it. I am trying to find music similar to that of "Pirates Of The Carribbean", specifically the well known track "He's A Pirate". I came close on YouTube, where I found a track from a Clorox commercial called "Pirates".

Anyone have any suggesstions?

Check out library music from X-Ray Dog, Immediate Music, Two Steps from Hell, etc.

Example:

Hans Zimmer's Muppet Treasure Island score, John Debney's Cutthroat Island score and John Williams' Hook score. All three are extremely underrated but very good.

Shiver My Timbers from Treasure Island, Morgan's Ride from Cutthroat Island and Opening Titles from Hook would probably be the best tracks to start with to get a feel for those scores.

I know this isn't exactly what you're looking for, but it fits the description "Epic Pirate Music":

http://www.myspace.com/captaindan - authentic Pirate Hiphop!

Also, since this is the internet and we're talking about the Pirates:

"I am a Pirate King" from 'Pirates of Penzance.'

Sung wonderfully by Kevin Klein in the movie., but the music itself is great.

Okay, you obviously need to find a copy of THE CRIMSON PIRATE: SWASHBUCKLERS OF THE SILVER SCREEN. It's a great compilation of classic pirate movie scores, from CAPTAIN BLOOD to CUTTHROAT ISLAND. I listen to it whenever I need to write a pirate scene.

Also, it's not technically a pirate film, but Bernard Herrmann's score for THE SEVENTH VOYAGE OF SINBAD is probably just what you're looking for. One of the most rousing movie scores ever!

If you like metal, Running Wild, Alestorm and Swashbuckle are writing pirate-themed music. For example:

I came here to link to them too. I went to uni with the keyboardist/vocalist and I still forget how successful he's become. No time for us anymore ;) wait, :(
Alestorm are awesome! Pirates, metal, occasional violin and the most metal thing ever- keytar! They even have a metal version of the Pirates Of The Carribean theme in one of their songs (No Quarter, from Black Sails At Midnight).

If you meet him, say hi from an Israeli fan :)

There's also a cover version by Captain Tractor.

Though if you want something more along serious lines, you should look into traditional songs such as Captain Kidd. Here's a great version done by Great Big Sea:

Heh, just found this one, though it's quite sexist:

Ah, you beat me to it! I was about to post the same thing! I'm a fan of the Captain Tractor version, myself.

On a more serious note, the soundtracks to the good ol' Seahawk and Captain Blood films are out there, on "Best of Korngold" collections and such.
