Enterprise & the Writers Strike? Chance for a come back?

However, a miniseries or two in the Trek universe might be do-able.

There is the fully complete Star Trek: The Beginning script about Tiberius Chase and the Romulan War....

Maybe we could throw in some lizard people, and some Mayans.

Okay, that's the funniest thing I've read all week...!

Well this topice generated a responce :)

1. whatever trek series is made next they have to build sets, so it could be for enterprise. ;)

2. as many people as I have seen say they liked or loved the show, if they would pull together and send some mail to CBS/Paramount we could make this happen.

3. Family Guy came back after a 3 year absence

4. Fire fly fans kept asking for A series return and got a movie (also took several years), and theres talk that a series return may still happen! ;)

5. WE enetrprise fans spoke up for 6 months and then quit , the difference between us and the other shows that were successfull is They Did Not Give Up! :brickwall:For 2, 3, 4 years kept on going till the goal was accomplished. ;)

I have streamlined an easy campaign that any can do, Just 1 Letter A Month untill the next Trek series hits the TV, wont take much individual effort, but does require that a lot of fans particapate.

So my appeal is to those who like or love the show, Send 1 letter a month, thats all it will take, and every now and then a theme can be announced where all can write on the same subject. :)

Maybe there arnt many unused scripts around, I dont know, but it makes for an interesting mailing. :)

Most sets for scifi series can be built in 4 to 8 weeks, and even though a lot of trek was sold off, The Christies Auction special that aired on history channle said there was still a huge amount of Trek Stuff in storage at Paramount, that they barley touched the stuff ;), so there is still a lot of props and sets that can be reused. :)

If you like the show, why not send a letter? :) Later Bruce

Your optimism is commendable, and best of luck to you. But even at its best Enterprise did nothing to inspire me to write a letter to save it, much less one letter a month.

Why would they rebuild expensive sets for a show that's already been conclusively rejected?

2. as many people as I have seen say they liked or loved the show, if they would pull together and send some mail to CBS/Paramount we could make this happen.

Been tried. Failed.

3. Family Guy came back after a 3 year absence

It had enough support. ENT does not.

4. Fire fly fans kept asking for A series return and got a movie (also took several years), and theres talk that a series return may still happen!

It's more logical for CBS to simply create an entirely new Trek show, rather than going back to a failed incarnation.

Campaigning has been tried and failed.

Why would they reuse sets and props for ENT?

Perhaps people who liked the show are content to move on?

No, the whole ball of wax has been turned over to JJ Abrams. Trek will be back on TV one day, but if Trek XI is the big hit we all hope it is (we all DO hope that, right? ;)) then what Abrams' has built will be basis for Trek going forward. Whether ENT has any place in that scheme, I can't say, but it doesn't seem likely except in greatly altered form and even that's not likely either.

If Trek XI is not a big hit, a return to TV will be even further in the future. And still not involve ENT.

Yeah it's as dead as TOS was in 1969 and 1970 and that didn't come back; oh wait it DID come back!

TOS didn't come back multiple years after cancellation. The Movies of course did follow, but they were not TOS, they were movies, and not movies filmed on the same sets, which I'm pretty sure is what the OP was hoping for.

When TOS was cancelled it happened in a time where the network didn't really understand what the show was about and it didn't have a world famous franchise behind it. As such, comparisons with ENT are baseless.

The OP was suggesting they produce a Trek show using old unused scripts to give them something to do during the writer's strike. In the (I would imagine) extremely unlikely event that happened, the easiest thing would be to do Phase II with a re-cast crew, as no writers would be required at all. Unforunately, reality TV shows are probably far easier.

No, the "OP" was suggesting that they could bring back ENT by using old Phase II scripts, because he believes that since the scripts are supposedly already written, they don't need writers who are currently on strike.

Unfortunately it's a completely unrealistic and impractical idea.

Star Trek is now a big brand name, so of course it will be back. (I was never one of these "it's dead forever" folks, that's not the way corporations think.) But ENT is far from being the most lucrative aspect of that franchise. The reason ENT won't be back soon if ever is competition with other aspects of Star Trek more likely to make money.

Abrams' notion of recasting TOS for instance is the most potentially lucrative idea for Trek, which most likely helped greenlight the project. If it's a success, then it will form the basis for future Trek projects. If it's not successful then Trek may very well BE dead after all. If ENT is ever back, it will be decades from now and the characters will be recast.

Wasn't trying to be pushy or argumentative; just pointing out that sometimes the entertainment business can pull surprises on you; things you don't think are possible one day suddenly come to fruition the next; but I have to agree, for the immediate future, especialy with the new movie coming, Enterprise is not coming back!

I liked Enterprise as much as the next guy, but I figure the only letters that have even a miniscule chance to get the show back on air would have to begin something like, "We have your daughter."

Enterprise has zero change for a comeback. True, the fans are starting to accept the new canons of that era then they did during the production run. The crew of Enterprise has moved on with their lives, it would be almost impossible to bring them all back on the same set to produce a new season.

Second, the ending of the show did under mind the production of an ENTERPRISE MOVIE. The best shot to have a movie was the formation of the federation council that is now off limits.

True, they could have a movie like Star Trek I, but that would be almost a remake. Just do not see any type of story that would help re launch Enterprise.

I like the telemovie idea. There were plans on bringing back the Kzinti if Season 5 had been green-lit. Might make a good adversary that nobody has seen since the animated series. Then there's always the Romulan War idea. I, for one, am kind of tired of the Romulans, however. A Kzin story would rock, IMHO.

Season 5 should have had a Kzinti vs. Xindi war. Now that would have been funny.
