Enterprise - My Version

BrotherBenny

Rear Admiral
Rear Admiral
Since I am a glutton for punishment, and my Stargate: First Contact story is being taken through to the home stretch (though how long that will take is anybody's guess), and seeing as how well my TNG Relaunch -My Version is being received, I thought that I would try my hand at a reimagining of Enterprise.

What follows is a list of things my version won't have:

Temporal Cold War
Klingons
Pregnant engineers
Psychotic crewmen
Really, really annoying Vulcans (they're just a little bit annoying).

That was simple enough. Now for what it will have:

Vulcans
Romulans
Suliban
MACOs
Continuing storylines, because I like them.

Again, if you think of something you might like to see, let me know and I'll consider it. I will start writing this as soon as Stargate: First Contact is all done.

Actually, Xeris, you might be missing the boat by excluding Klingons-No one has ever explained how they went from gruff indifference(ENT) to the brink of war(TOS). That might be worth exploring as an evolving relationship. And just because you rule out The Temporal Cold War(sheesh, what a cheesy name, IMO) don't rule out the possibility of time travel. Although the nasty attitudes of Terra Prime and the beginnings of Section 31 might be interesting plotlines to follow...

Regarding the Klingons, I postulate that they had no interest in Earth (and aren't four days away anyhow) because it is too far away to conquer, especially with the Vulcans close by. It is only with the founding of the Federation and the amalgamation of the Terran, Vulcan, Andorian and Tellarite fleets that the Klingons start to take notice of our little corner of the galaxy and so begins a cold war which will last for over a century. I planned to have the Rommies as the baddies and maybe go the full ten years, having the founding of the Federation. If I continue this beyond that, the Rommies will be stuck behind their neutral zone and the new baddies could be the Klingons.

As for everything else, you'll just have to see.

Interesting...I'm glad that you are not including the Klingons in your take which I agree with btw. It was annoying that first contact between humans and Klingons took place essentially by accident becuase they were caught in the Temporal Cold War (nothing wrong with that name btw, what else are you going to call it? Unless you go with Implausible Future War). I actually always thought that the Federation (note that I use the name Federation here instead of Starfleet) made contact with the Klingons after the Earth/Romulan War and sometime in the 23rd Century. I'm looking forward to reading this.

Adm Gold-In my wanderings through things Trek I got the impression First Contact w/Klingons took place when Kirk was a boy and that the horrendously bad mistakes made played directly into the adoption of the Prime Directive. I just can't remember where I bumped into that-possibly one of the earliest of Trek Novels? I'll post a thread in Gen Disc.

I think, you might refer to something Picard said, Mistral. He mentions the disastrous first contact in connection with the Prime Directive but I can't really remember what he really says and what episode it is.

As for your take on Enterprise, Xeris, I'm really looking forward to it. It would be nice if we learned more about the founding members of the Federation Andor and Tellar. And I would really miss Phlox. I hope Denobulans are part of your story, too. Earth history would be cool, too.

:bolian: I think this sounds like a very interesting idea and especially so given your foray into Stargate and relaunch TNG. All terrific stuff so you could do some really good work here.
