Enterprise back on HDNet

I just saw this when I did my normal "Star Trek" search on DirecTV this afternoon.

They are playing two episodes a day, Monday through Saturday, starting on Monday, January12th. The episodes are at 11 AM and Noon, EST. The first day is the Storm Front two parter. We'll quickly get to the episodes they never ran the following week.

Even owning the DVDs, I like seeing the episodes in HD. I can hardly wait for the Mirror Universe episodes. I was going to watch them again off the DVDs just the other night. I'll think I'll wait now for HDNet to come through.

My local provider doesn't carry that network but we do have Skiffy HD. So what' the difference?

I haven't watched ENT on SciFi, but from what I have heard it's not shown in HD even on the SciFi-HD channel, some kind of exclusive HD deal with HDNet. Has that changed recently?

Nope - ENT is still in 480i (letterbox) on the Sci-Fi HD Channel. And it's funny in that I also do an occassional ENT search on my DirectTV unit - and was suprised to see the 'HD' indicator next to a few of them. At first I thought SciFiHD might have gotten the rights, but then I saw the channel number and realized HDNet got them back somehow. It's better on HDNet anyway because in addition to being in their native HD format, they're shown uncut. But at least now I can get 'The Anear' and add it to the other two Adorian Arc HD episodes I've kept on my HD DVR for nearly a year (I have the Vulcan arc too); plus I can finally see 'In A Mirror darkly in native aspect 1080i.

I do hope they re-release the ENT season sets in Blu-Ray format. I have the DVD sets; but don't look as good upconverted as the native HD broadcasts do - and they should look even better in 1080P.

Another difference between Sci-Fi and HDNet is that HDNet (at least before) showed the episodes virtually without commercial interruption, and without any of that dancing baloney advertising junk across the lower half of the screen.

I am SO glad the show is coming back to HDNet. :techman::techman::techman:

Enterprise is back on HDNet

Star Trek: Enterprise is back on HDNet. Getting ready to watch 'The Augments'.

Re: Enterprise is back on HDNet

Well the, it sounds like they did not start back at the beginning if you are about to watch The Augments. :)

Re: Enterprise is back on HDNet

It's just great to have them back in HD. Sci-Fi HD isn't in wide screen last time I looked (FIOS), HDNet was wide screen.

I am no expert on this but I think if your 1080p TV does a good job of de-interlacing, then the 1080i of HDNet should be close to (though not exactly as good as) the native 1080p. I know it looks damn good on my TV.

Yeah, I missed almost all of season 4 first run. I now have the entire season Tivoed. Watched "Home" last night. Good stuff.

i actually got a package with HDnet JUST so I could watch Enterprise. I was ticked when it was taken off, I even emailed to see when/if it would come back on but I never got a response

I finally saw the last few episodes on HDNet. I was curious about the Ten Forward scene in TATV, since that was taken from a TNG episode. I wanted to see if it was in HD resolution, which it seemed to be. This means that they have definitely saved the original film material from TNG episodes. It would make transferring TNG to HD much easier (though still costly).

Loved seeing Bound, and the beautiful Orion slave girls in HD. And IaMD rocks even more in HD.
