Enterprise and waste recycling....

There was an interesting scene in 'Breaking the Ice' where some of the senior crew explain their job positions.

Interestingly, it is brought out that the 'wastes' are recycled into ship parts...

I thought that was interesting; I know there are probably a few sci-fi books that have something similar, but this is the first I've heard of it on a televised sci-fi show.
 
I remember that, too. It was Trip, wasn't it,who said that? That'd be a must on a deep-space vessel, conserve and reuse. Voyager found that out quick enough. Today's dented breakfast tray, tomorrow's lining for a power cable...

I would suspect the ENT computer network deals with that...i.e. the disgusting part of it.(Although, you might have an officer or Ensign who monitors things via computer board)....
