This week's contest is about the classic ladies of the silver screen: the women who dominated the motion picture business in the 20s, 30s, 40s and 50s. From Mary Pickford to Bette Davis, from Barbara Stanwick to Katherine Hepburn, these women were major stars and major talents.

All avs must be from films prior to 1960 and must fit the standard av rules of the BBS. The poll will go up on Friday.

PS...No SciFi/Fantasy allowed.

eta: To clarify: "All avs must be production stills or screencaps from films prior to 1960." In other words, the picture is from an actual MOVIE from before 1960.

Here's my personal favorite:
Ingrid Bergman in Casablanca

Ummm....did people miss the part where I said, "From films?" A few of these look like generic publicity shots.

You may not have made that clear enough. How about:

"All avs must be production stills or screencaps from films prior to 1960 and must fit the standard av rules of the BBS."

(Anyway, mine is obviously from Gilda.)

Yes, yours was obviously from Gilda.

OK, to clarify, "All avs must be production stills or screencaps from films prior to 1960." In other words, the picture is from an actual MOVIE from before 1960.

See updated OP.

I was all ready to use Jean Simmons in Spartacus till I realised that was 1960! Considered The Robe but in the end thought I'd go with Maurenn O'Hara in The Quiet Man
