Happy New Year!Thanks for the votes on the previous contest. I hope no one got an IOU as a present this year.

This week's contest is about notable events of 2013--notable in any way you see fit. However, no TV shows (except award shows or news programs) or movies allowed. I will allow singers, performers (actors, directors, athletes, etc), public events, weather, political figures, items in the news, and so on. So, Miley Cirus making a fool of herself on national TV? Fine. Last episode of Breaking Bad? No.

Well, apparently you've still got the chance to change your entry, if you're not satisfied with it.

I know sometimes it feels like there are less entries than there actually are, but this is ridiculous. Only five entries? With a whole year to play with?! C'mon, you lazy non-enterers, give your family some money for the movies and get to work!

Oh but I'm happy with it; it's a moment that would not happen in the more sombre (dare I call it boring?) north/western part of the world where most of us live, caught on camera

But if I could find some time I would give it a bit of a border and perhaps use a different shot of the trio...

cool here we go:

It's a bit difficult to recognize but this solitary island is the tip of the tower next to the local baseball field in which the press and radio commentators sit during a match. That might give you an idea of how high the flood was when the dam broke.

3 years ago they renovated the baseball fields, 2 years ago some bas... err.. a gentleman of questionable ancestry burned it down and last year the flood came, just when we were about to host the regional youth championships. Back to square one.

I helped with rebuilding the stadion last year. I levelled the playing field (literally) and sowed the new lawn.
And this way I even get a chance to finally see my first baseball match at the tender age of 50!
