(I like to imagine this as a future shot in a happier universe. Oddly enough, Tinypic gave me the word "temporal" for the CAPTCHA, for this one!)

I bet Gul Re'jal knew what I was going to do with THIS one!

A lesser-known endangered species, the fish-eating gharial (or gavial) is huge but severely threatened, not just because of encroachment on its environment, but because of ignorance. Gharials are not, and cannot be man-eaters; their thin jaws, meant for fish, not land prey, would snap if they tried it. They're actually kind of shy around people despite their great size.

In the picture is a baby gharial, with the tail of mama gharial for size comparison. Isn't he cute? :D

Baby crocodilians are always ridiculously cute. :techman: I've held young caiman; they're adorable. Seriously. :)

Indeed. That's why I based the Cardassian camayrit, in my stories, on the gharial. The idea of a "baby" gharial with a people-friendly personality and a winning "purr" was just too much to resist. :D
