March 24th sees the arrival of the third of four announced novels in Christopher L. Bennett's Rise of the Federation series featuring the Enterprise characters. Uncertain Logic follows on from last year's Tower of Babel, also released in March.

Blurb time:

An original novel continuing the saga of the TV series Star Trek: Enterprise—featuring Captain Jonathan Archer and the crew of the Enterprise!

Years ago, Jonathan Archer and T’Pol helped unearth the true writings of Vulcan’s great philosopher Surak, bringing forth a new era of peaceful reform on Vulcan. But when their discovery is seemingly proven to be a fraud, the scandal threatens to undo a decade of progress and return power to the old, warlike regime. Admiral Archer, Captain T’Pol, and the crew of the U.S.S. Endeavour investigate with help from their Vulcan allies, but none of them suspect the identity of the real mastermind behind the conspiracy to reconquer Vulcan—or the price they will have to pay to discover the truth.

Meanwhile, when a long-forgotten technological threat re-emerges beyond the Federation’s borders, Captain Malcolm Reed of the U.S.S. Pioneer attempts to track down its origins with help from his old friend “Trip” Tucker. But they discover that other civilizations are eager to exploit this dangerous power for their own benefit, even if the Federation must pay the price!

This Enterprise novel is one I've definetly been looking forward to getting for several months, and finding out what's been going on with the Vulcan people after the Romulan war ended. And who's causing trouble on Vulcan and what T'Pol and Archer will find out when they Investigate the mystery they've been ordered to find out about. Also Trip& Malcolm's storyline sounds interesting too!

A bunch of my local Chapters outlets have it! I'm going straight away after work to get a mint copy (hopefully). I should be into the book by this evening ! Love Love Love early releases in my area! Take THAT amazon!

Pre-ordered this, so hopefully I'll have it in my mailbox soon. Can't wait!

I got it! 2 chapters in so far. Gonna read as much today as I can. Looking good so far :techman:

PS- To Christopher: Is there a working title (that you are able to share) for book #4 yet?

If B&N has them out early, maybe I should take a trip to one versus order via Amazon.

I love Amazon and use it when i need to, but keeping the brick & mortar stores open is a must! We should all do our part to keep them alive when we are able :techman:

I just picked up my copy today (although I got an email last last Thursday saying that it was in) at my local Coles. I'll get to it once I finish Dean Wesley Smith's Goblin's Revenge.

I started reading my copy and I liked it. The Vulcan-heavy content appeals, and the Ware are interesting challengers.

I completely agree. Unfortunately, since I can no longer drive, I'm no longer able, so I'll have to leave that to you fine folks.

Oh, guess what my next Amazon purchase will be?

I preordered this book I hope to get it next week.I'm intrigued by the Vulcan storyline.:vulcan::bolian:

Got this in today, on my birthday no less!!! :D

So, Christopher, thanks for the birthday gift. ;) ;) ;)

I just finished, and I really dug it! Great job Christopher! Too much swirling around right now to mention everything...plus it seems no one has really read it yet, so it would be spoilers.

I will say that i'm a fan of the running dates, as it gives the series a sense of how long things can take out there. I liked the character progression. I loved seeing Shran again (not long enough for me). It was cool seeing other ships like Essex and the Andorian Guard ships. So much to like this time out. I'd forgotten how many ancillary characters have already been developed. Lots of people in this book, but not too many that I forgot who they all were. Can't wait for book 4, which is next year i'm guessing.

Oh...I also loved that
Flint/Akharin
showed up! Is there anything those
Section 31 bastards
don't know about?!

Well, when I first got this gig and made a list of all the established Trek characters who would be around in that timeframe, he was naturally on the list. And given his interest in robotics, he fit here.

Oh my gosh I can't bear waiting for this book anymore. And Paris's post really got my tongue dripping now. But I'm still sane enough not to unlock what's safely hidden away by the spoiler code.
