ENT Novel Suggestions?

Balok's Decoy

Anyone have recommendations for some good ENT novels? I'm not too worried about spoilers, even though I haven't even finished season 1 yet (you can't not know what happens in TATV if you're on a Trek forum). What are some of your favorites? Where's a good place to start?

Thanks!

I found By the Book and What Price Honor (both set during Season One) to be quite strong entries. Both novels also seek to flesh out the little developed characters, especially Malcolm Reed in the second suggestion.

Do you want to stick to the books set during the show?
For now, yeah, I'd like to keep it within the show's timeframe.

Also, if you or anyone else knows a good Phlox-heavy book, that would interest me a great deal. I'm open to any suggestions, though.

There was a thread on this relatively recently: http://www.trekbbs.com/threads/enterprise-novels.285438/

The correct answer is read everything by Dave Stern, read nothing by Martin and/or Mangels, everything else can go either way.
While I recommend reading everything by Martin and/or Mangels - and then Bennett, while Stern is optional.
Only the first of Martin and Mangels books are set during the series but they're all really good reads.

This is the only series on TV that I could not get into. Are the books more exciting and more engaging than the show?
