England Cricket tour of New Zealand

For those that don't have sky and so can't watch the cricket, I heartily recommend SkySports.com's video section as they have free ten minute highlights videos from each day's play.

Trouble is, the commentators keep saying 'England can't lose from here' which is the kiss of death. :(

To be honest, our bowlers will need to turn up the goods. NZ will have two full days to bat that total, unless we can get wickets.

One of the comentators this morning remarked that England don't seem to want to win. One almost feels they don't deserve to! Some of those dropped catches were horrendous. Someone should shove KP's head down a loo for that one!

It's as if having done an excellent job batting, the batsmen fel they have done their bit, and are forgetting that the bowlers (who worked realy hard all day!) need a bit of support.

Indeed - their fielding yesterday was nothing short of shambolic at times (3 dropped sitters and a missed regulation stumping by Ambrose). Luckily it didn't matter, as they wrapped up the Kiwi lower order in the morning session to win by 126 runs and square the series at 1-1 :) One gets the impression that when they can do everything right on the same day, they could be quite a decent side..... ;)

They certainly haven't tonight - 58-4 at lunch, having been 4-3 at one stage  on what is a pretty good batting track. What makes it worse is that three out of the four got themselves out playing shots that your average twelve year old would have been embarrassed about (and Vaughn was almost as culpable, playing all round a straight one that he should have kept out with ease). It's a pitch they should have been looking to get at least 350 on, but barring a big ton from KP (who is looking in reasonable nick it must be said), they'll be lucky to get 200.....

I meant to come in here yesterday with my head in my hands and wail about the state of England's top order. But with the holiday, I never made it... and today our top order have been surpassed by the New Zealand middle order!!

Now I'm just looking at the whole match and thinking... :wtf:

One of the commentators suggested after day two that the teams were competing to see who could bat worse... Looks like Strauss stepped out the 'get-runs-or-we'll-drop-you' zone for now, anyway. ;)

With one innings being excellent each game you'd almost think England would suit the short form versions of cricket. Unfortunately... :D

Still, they've pulled it together well this test. Can't complain too much.

Quite surprising how quickly the match has turned - this time two days ago I was about ready to throw the telly out of the window, such was their collective ineptitude yet now a series victory looks pretty certain. Glad to see both Bell & Strauss making big scores to secure their spots on the team, but there were still a few too many promising starts made but not built upon from other members of the top 6. And Vaughnie looks in pretty poor form at present - if he wasn't the skipper, his place in the team would definitely under threat....
