Endeavour to Launch Wednesday Evening

Re: Gouge in shuttle tiles found...

This thread is mostly about the falling tiles.

That goes to show how uninformed you are about the current situation and quite possibly NASA in general.

No tile on Endeavour have fallen. No tiles have failed.

Re: Shuttle coming in...deorbit burn has been initiated.

Complete Success!

They were showing replays on NASA TV, when they showed the Midfield Camera (TV-33) it looked like a UFO was flying above the shuttle? Weird

They just showed video of the damaged tile and it appears to have come through well, not much damage do to heat at all! I guess they called it right this time.

Yep...looks like that area didn't heat up too much at all, otherwise you'd think you'd see scorch marks around the white part of the busted tiles.

Re: Shuttle coming in...deorbit burn has been initiated.

Oh that's good news. I'm glad to see them all arrive home safely!

Me too. And they flew right up past us coming home. We heard the double sonic boom (as I was watching TV coverage.) I did not think one could hear it from this far away, but the local news said that it could be heard from Miami on up as the shuttle passed over us.

Gorgeous pictures, Spider.

I hope someone eventually does one of those Quicktime 360' VR images. That would be awesome. :D

Awesome photos, especially the above one, you can see the Southern tip of the North Island and Northern part of the South Island of New Zealand in it, my adopted home country :D

The thing is that this pic is quite old. That's either a pic of the end of the S1 or P1 Truss. Probably the S1 Truss, as I think they did some get-ahead tasks to prepare S1 for the S3/4 truss.

On a related note, next Thursday morning, from about 5am-12pm (not sure what TZ, but either CT or ET), the ISS crew are going to relocate the PMA-3 from the port side of Unity to the Nadir port of Unity to make room for Harmony which comes up in late October.

Re: Shuttle coming in...deorbit burn has been initiated.

Well, the guy that gave me the pics said he got them from a friend at NASA. The NASA sites I have bookmarked are all planatary probes. (Want some cool Mars pics?) If they are old as you say, they're still nice.
