Emmys nominations

Without detracting from Community (I love the show and certainly wish it had gotten *some* recognition), it's patently unfair to aim your guns on Modern Family, which was absolutely clever and hilarious this season, from writing to performance.

If he doesn't win this, it will be a CRIME, I tells ya!

LOVE to see "Justified" getting some recognition, but Timothy doesn't have a chance in HELL of winning. It will go to Hamm of "Mad Men" or Laurie from "House" (again). I would like to see Michael C. Hall win for "Dexter", since I not only love the show, but think his character is probably the hardest to pull off successfully. IMHO.

No way. If Olyphant doesn't get it's got to be Buscemi! Anything else would be plain robbery.

I really like Olyphant, Justified is pretty good, but I can't help feeling the part is a little too lightweight for him.

Well, everything after Deadwood is going to seem "lightweight."

Who cares? We all know that Mad Men is going to take Drama yet again even though it doesn't deserve it. No point in watching. :rommie:

Yeah, the actual show will be a bore. You'd think the Emmy voters would be more favorably inclined towards The Walking Dead, considering that they seem to be a bunch of brain-dead zombies, nominating the same shows and the same actors, year after year. :rommie:

...but where's Katey Sagal for Sons of Anarchy? That show deserves more Emmy love than it's ever gotten.

That's the biggest piss-off for me this year. Kathy Bates for Harry's Law got nominated over her? Please. I thought after the Golden Globe win earlier this year Sagal might FINALLY break through. Sigh.

Kurt Sutter always has some choice things to say on the topic.

If not The Walking Dead, then Sons of Anarchy deserved to take Dexter's slot. Both those shows were better this year. No idea about the other nominated shows, since I don't watch em.

I bailed on the show, didn't even finish the premiere, because of exactly that problem - I really wanted something that was much more go-for-the-jugular than it seemed to be. But maybe it's evolved in that direction. Anyway, it's on my DVD-catch-up list.

Nice to see Martha Plimpton get a nomination. She's great on Raising Hope.

This was one of the few nominations I was both surprised and delighted by.

Rasing Hope is one of the best heartfelt comedies on TV today but it's so under recognized thus far.

Garret Dillahunt deserves some kudos as well since we're dishing them out.

Deadline has noooooo sense of humor. They banned me there, I still can't figure out why. Anyplace I can get banned is definitely taking itself too seriously. :rommie:

I've had a few comments get deleted there. Apparently they don't like it when one of their "exclusive" articles is pointed out to have been revealed by a show creator several months before on his own blog (amusingly enough in this case, Sutter again!).

Yes! He's my favorite on the show. It's kind of hard to believe he's the same guy who played a terminator on T:TSCC. To go from that character to playing Burt Chance really shows what a good actor he is.:techman:

Curb Your Enthusiasm had one of its best seasons ever. 30 Rock still doesn't deserve any nominations. It's all beyond my comprehension.

Emmys are a time where a lot of people complain about snubs and who should be there, or just complain that the Networks are represented too much and the stuff on premium cable aren't represented enough. I really don't watch too much to be in that crowd, but overall, it really seems like the Emmy Awards have become one of the more controversial, corrupt, and just lackluster as a whole show of the whole award season (Music, Broadway, TV, Movies).

However, I see this list, and I do have one complaint. How was Nick Offerman and/or Aziz Azari not nominated for their roles in Parks and Recreation? I mean the Pyrimid scene itself was award worthy, but Azari really grew to his own character over the season and actually became a little overshadowed by Offerman's portrayal of Ron.

Also, I'm probably one of the only Glee fans left, but even I thought that show didn't have a good season overall last year. If anyone from Glee wins (especially Colfer who, while he probably deserves it, portrayed a really annoying character) or the show wins for best comedy, that will be a head-scratcher. With that said, go Parks and Recreation and Amy Poehler. It deserves to win everything it was nominated for, especially best Comedy because of the shows I saw last year, Parks and Rec was the best and the one show I looked forward to watching every single week.

I still like Glee, but Season 2 was more than just the result of high expectations and a media blitz going in, it really didn't live up to the potential of season 1 and that's the long and short of it.

Potential was there and it was squandered. There were good moments of course, but overall, Glee pulled a "Heroes" and started to drink their own Kool-aid.

Now with talk of no less than 3 main leads getting bounced next year (due to the fact that Ryan Murphy's more focused on the "high school" setting than following his characters development), I don't know what's going to happen to it. If anything, it was an interesting ride while it lasted, but I don't think it was Emmy worthy.

On another note, I just shotgunned Harry's Law this weekend and I have to say that Kathy Bates deserves the crap out of that Emmy Nod for best lead actress. Christopher McDonald could of used one too though for Best Male Supporting. (even though he was technically guest cast)

And 3rd, I've been not watching Modern Family (even though I know it's good) but I find it surprising that the entire adult main cast was nominated for an Emmy. And none of them submitted LEAD Actor/Actress categories which seems to of been planned that way. Looking forward to checking this show out in a few seasons.

i'm glad FNL and Sherlock got some nods... but overall, i dont care about the awards. a good show is a good show, awards or not.
