Elysium trailer 720p

trevanian

Rear Admiral
It looks pretty damned good, like THE CLOUD MINDERS on steroids and without getting rewritten to death.

Just what you'd expect as a followup from DISTRICT 9 filmmaker. Not sure if the tech is quite as fancy as I'd expect, at least in terms of the guns and ships, but the space station stuff is amazing, like seeing RINGWORLD or something.

Actually with Damon and Foster it looks more polished than "District 9"

I guess it's because the documentary like shooting is gone.

"District 9" was shoot in the slums of Johannesburg with complete unknowns

There's still the grittiness with Damon getting that harness though.

All of the stuff I'd heard about it definitely had me interested, but now that I've seen some footage my interest has multiplied several times. The fact that I really enjoyed District 9 has also kept my interest in this fairly high.

As excited as I am about Iron Man 3 and The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, this is my most anticipated film of the year. I cannot wait.

Crap sake, the Elysium stuff looked great. Why the hell can't anyone do Rendezvous with Rama???
Or Ringworld?!

^ I'm glad, actually. I'd much rather have an amazing original sci-fi movie than another video game adaptation.

The trailer looks awesome. Put the movie right on top of the list of my most anticipated movies of the year.

To be honest, I didn't really care for District 9, but this certainly looks interesting.

I thought District 9 was alright but I didn't like it as most people seem to have liked it.

I really am looking forward to Elysium, the trailer looks excellent!

I actually see a lot of District 9 in the Elysium trailer, right down to an underdog wrapping himself in a metallic exoskeleton in order to fight his oppressors.

Looks pretty slick though.

Those aren't ringworlds, they're O'neill cylinders, the like of which can be see in the webseries "L5", and the Gundam shows.

The few photos we have seen led me to believe this movie was going to be cheap looking but it's nothing of the kind!! Awesome trailer, and now we have 5-6 really good, genuine scifi movies I'm looking forward to this year.

No, it actually is a Ringworld type structure;

It's definitely a ring shape and the inhabitants clearly live on the outer ring.

The image in the middle of the trailer made me think there was a cylinder attached on the side, but that's still not a ringworld, its more like a giat torus habitat from 2001:A Space Odyssey. Ringworlds are not enclosed, and they usually have some "sun" or artificial light source.

Ok, I meant it wasn't a true o'neil cylinder like Babylon 5, it was more of a ring structure.

I didn't mean to say ring world. I know that's another structure entirely.

Watched this trailer earlier today for the first time.

It does seem to have a lot in common with District 9 but that's not necessarily a bad thing, in my book. It certainly looks interesting.

Another tidbit: Michael Shanks (SG1) also has a role in the film, so that makes me even more interested in it.

Cool, I hadn't heard about that.

Syfy just announced they are going to be doing a mini-series adapation of Ringworld.
Yeah, I've seen that and commented how I felt about that development in the thread about Rinworld and Children's End.
