Tom Hanks will present a new web-based animated series called Electric City, depicting an optimistic future - not a dystopian world - and based on the actor's concept and script, to hit the internet early next year.
Three-minute webisodes will be shown in 20 installments following socially conscious themes like energy consumption and freedom of information. The franchise might expand into graphic novels and video games, he suggested to The New York Times.

Will this turn in to anything?

Well, there goes the title of a story I was writing about a dystopian world called "Electric City" -- inspired by the decline Schenectady, NY (once nicknamed Electric City because of the presence of General Electric). :p

I'll probably check out this series, though. I like the experimentation that is so often present in web series. Should be interesting.
