Edge of Tomorrow 2...

Captain of the USS Averof

Commodore
Commodore
...Will be titled "Live Die Repeat and Repeat". Emily Blunt will return and reprise the role of Sergeant Rita Vrataski again, as will Tom Cruise of course. Joe Shrapnel and Anna Waterhouse are writing the screenplay based on an original story idea Tom Cruise pitched to original screenwriter Christopher McQuarrie. Director Doug Liman is expected to return also.

Still don't understand the very ending of the movie but i liked it and if they can write a good story then i'm all for it.

I'm actually looking forward to it.

I went into the film expecting any empty action film but I was genuinely surprised by the amount of depth it displayed. It still has a few issues and I was disappointed Liman went with the safe ending. I really hoped that the film would end with both Cage and Rita sacrificing their lives to save the world and the world would never know of their sacrifice, both the act itself and the brevity of the act. Instead, we get the latter, but both magically survive by one final reset. The final round of action was heighten for me because Cage and Rita, as well as the viewer, knew the stakes were even higher now. This was their last real chance, no more resets, and yet, that whole sequence becomes moot because of the final reset.

That being said, I've come to realize that was never going to happen because...sequels!

And I think I'm literally the only person who likes the title Edge of Tomorrow. :p

I don't normally follow Tom Cruise and his movie making schedule but he's like 3-4 years booked already. He was making "The Mummy" a few months ago then started "Mission Impossible 6" a few weeks ago and after that's wrapped "Edge of Tomorrow 2"

It helps to partially finance your own movies. Cruise is a surprisingly keen businessman and his billfold opens doors to a lot of good projects he can star in with enough control to make sure they don't suck.

I liked the first movie, but it felt like a complete story. I don't see how they will make a sequel. I'll see it eventually, but its not something I'm that excited for, even though I like the first movie a lot.

IIRC I liked the first movie (and the original title) up until the ending, which felt like a bit of a cop-out.

I'm not at all sure this is a movie that needs a sequel, but having the original actors return is at least preferable to an Interview with the Vampire/Queen of the Damned scenario.

Should be interesting to see, what twist they come up with for the Groundhog Day mechanic to be fresh again and different from the first.
