Spoilers Edgar Wright's "Baby Driver"

Couldn't find another thread on this one, so starting one.

Saw the movie last week and loved it. Wright has become one of my favorite directors, ever since my daughter insisted I see Scott Pilgrim which I loved. I've seen other "wheel man" movies, most recently, Drive, a few years ago, Drive, though, was more of a traditional movie of this type. "Baby" , as most Wright movies are, is a different beast. in this genre

The movie starts off kind of comedic, but things change as the heists escalate. The movie has some really great performances. Ansel Egort, who plays the title character, is perfect in his role, IMO. He looks shy and innocent but is an incredibly talented getaway driver. Movie starts out with a hellacious chase scene. Jamie Foxx plays a psycho (really psycho) crook, along with Jon Hamm, of all people. Hamm puts his urbane Don Draper image to rest for good. Although I'm not a great Kevin Spacey fan, he was pretty good in this one.

Much has been made of the movies' soundtrack, and it is great It's very diverse and acts as a kind of extra character. The way the music is used is totally unique, with characters occasionally timing their actions to match some of the beats of various songs. It's a clever effect. The use of the ultra soulful R&B classic, "Harlem Shuffle", is maybe my favorite scene. The movie gets darker as things go along and that was fine with me. Like some reviews, I could have done with another car chase or two, but I've read that Wright has stated that he was going after something other than a story that emphasized that aspect of the movie. The movie had more to do with how tse characters relate to each other and Baby's quest to find out which world he does belong in.

I highly recommend.

I saw this last night and thought it was very good. It sags a bit in the middle and that does coincide with a lack of car chances or other action during that part of the movie, and the denouncement does go on a bit, but aside from this I liked it.
