There's been a lot of talk in the "Eccleston Reasons for Leaving" thread about whether or not he'd ever come back for a one-off, and this has got me wondering: suppose Christopher Eccleston was amenable to either making a one-time reappearance on the show (say, for the 50th Anniversary story) or doing "missing adventures" on audio for Big Finish? Assuming you could only have one, which option would you choose?

For myself, as much as it pains me, and as much as I'd like at least a whole season more of Eccleston's wonderfully damaged Ninth Doctor, I think I'd have to plump for an Anniversary Special appearance, assuming such a special is planned. If Tennant, McGann, McCoy, et.al. were all to agree to return, I don't think I could bear not having Nine there with the rest of them.

I'd rather see him interacting on-screen with (presumably) Tennant and Smith (and maybe McGann if they go back that far).

I wasn't going to vote, as (although he was a great Doctor and a hard act to follow) his day is basically done and he should probably be working on new and interesting things rather than retreading old ground. (He was briefly in talks for season two of Game Of Thrones, which could have been excellent.)

However, if he had to return, some kind of audio project might be just the ticket. It seems more likely, at least, as it wouldn't quite be going back to the same thing (which he's repeatedly said is off of the cards).

I'd want it to be integral to the series like showing him or Mcgann during the time war. With Smith having to go there.

I'd love to see Nine come back for an episode and take charge from those goofy kids calling themselves "the Doctor" who've been running around his TARDIS since he regenerated. :)

As much as I would love to see Eccleston return to interact with Tennant and Smith (and maybe the other Doctors), I think a project with Big Finish is much more likely (if they get the license) because I get the feeling from many of his interviews that he has a lot of respect for radio dramas.

Television special if they get Russell T Davies back for it.

Big Finish as long as it's not him fighting the Daleks, Cybermen, Sontarans, and Bandrils while traveling with Rose, K-9, Liz Shaw, and Frobisher.

As the youngest of the group (if it's just Nine, Ten, and Eleven), wouldn't he be the kid? ;)

Eh, he's only eight years younger than Eleven (unless Eleven was lying when saying he's 908). Besides, that never stopped the First Doctor from bossing Two and Three around. ;)

I still need to watch The Three Doctors one of these days. I think it's up for streaming on Netflix...

I don't know if I really want to see a multi-Doctor story for the anniversary. While I wouldn't mind seeing a past Doctor return I could care less right now. And I doubt if Eccleston would ever return at any rate.

Rading between the lines, it won't be anything if it involves RTD.

Anniversary only. If he doesn't want to come back, he doesn't want to come back, but it would be great if he just had a cameo in the anniversary show and interact with Tennant and Smith. Heck, I'm ready for any Doctor interaction now. It's been 3-4 years since Time Crash, let's do another one.
