Eastwick canceled

Dream

Network sources confirm to HitFix that ABC will not be picking up a back-nine for "Eastwick," effectively canceling the first-year series.

In its most recent airing on Nov. 4, "Eastwick" averaged only 4.6 million viewers and a 1.6 rating in the 18-49 demo. "Eastwick" has been the only first-run network drama to occasionally lose to NBC's "The Jay Leno Show."

For the three people here who watched Eastwick it looks like the show has been burned at the stake. If a show with three hot babes doing magic can't survive I fear for the future of fantasy on television.

Nothing's creepier than three 30+ year old women acting like they're in junior high. It's their own damn fault for making a crappy show that could have had a lot more potential.

Someone here's going to have to console Jaime Ray Newman, Lindsay Price and Rebecca Romijn, possibly via foursome orgy. Any volunteers?

80s movie with Cher, shrunk for the small screen.

Witches get their powers fresh as Satan arrives to impregnate them.

That was the movie at least, the TV show was muddier. Lacked focus.

Not sure if "the guy" is Satan, and he only wanted to boink Romijn.

13 episodes or are they cutting the order short?

Everybody act shocked. I can tell what's going to make it and what's not when I see plot summaries. The networks need to put me in charge.

If you take over NBC, please get rid of Jay, Conan or Fallon's show and then restore 10pm for dramatic programming.

Yeah they should just stick Jay on at 12:30.

What is shocking is that The Forgotten got 5 more episodes.

How many genre shows are cancelled each season?

It seems higher than the overall rate of failed first season shows.

Remember the year of Lost----4 other high-profile sci-fi shows didn't make it to season 2.

I actually have to agree with you. I thought the show would have survived based on that alone. God knows other crappy shows (cough*gossipgirl*cough) have survived based upon the babe factor. Then again, ask Firefly fans if having a show top-loaded with babes had a hope in heck of surviving.

I watched about 25 minutes of that show and didn't know what the HELL was going on. The devil-character (played by the wonderful Paul Gross) was in it for a whole 5 seconds.

The female characters were just shockingly stupid and childlike. It's like the show was written by 8th graders.

I'm glad it's canceled. The actors deserve better than this drek.

I'm bummed as I enjoyed watching two of the three female leads every week. I'm hoping this means that Jamie Ray Newman gets a full time gig on Eureka. Also want to see Lindsay Price land on a good show.

edited to add: Note to Aragorn. Those two ladies would be great GBOW

It's not on CW, if it were it would be a hit.

Once again, perfect for The CW!
