Earth-Romulan War Years 2158-2159

Hando

Commander
Red Shirt
Does anyone know what everybody was doing during the years 2158 and 2159?

Having read the duology it seams to me that there is a hole there. What was happening? All Quiet on the Spin-ward Front?
Also, how did the Romulans came to conquer/reconquer Altair, Deneva, the area from Beta Virginis to Delta Pavonis within just 4 months.

After all Starfleet should have some 40 brand-new Daedalus-class ships by that time (immune to the telecapturing device too, not that it matters). :rommie:

Hadn't the Haakonans been destroyed by that point, letting the Romulans finally focus their superior military forces on Earth unhindered by distractions?

As for conquest/reconquest, of all of Earth's colonies only Alpha Centauri seems to have been fairly developed, with a substantial industrial base and military force of its own. The other colonies were much smaller and less developed, with populations in the thousands, dependent on supply from Earth.

That is the problem, by my reckoning:
The Haakona are gone on/by December 29, 2157.

2158 nothing.

Then in June 2159 Romulans get their hands on the Warp 7 ships. There is the Battle of Vorkado in November 2159.

And suddenly by February 2160 the Romulans have re-taken the earlier mentioned space.

So what was going on in 2157 and 2158 a time skip?

I don't see any contradiction. (The Haakonan civilization collapsed in the space of a couple of weeks.)

The Romulan war against the Haakonan civilization seems to have been as significant a conflict as the war against Earth, with Romulus being at war with an aggressive civilization with warp drive capable of making long-range attacks. It would have taken some time for the Romulans to be certain that the Haakonan civilization was destroyed, that there were no lost colonies or anything of the kind, and then once that task was completed to redeploy Romulan military forces from the defunct Haakonan front to the active Earth front. To do that would have required significant investments in Romulan military infrastructure, to develop supply chains capable of supporting doubled forces, et cetera.

Once the Romulan forces did outweigh those of Earth by sizable factors, the collapse of the younger civilization would have been a matter of time.

An entire year gone missing?

I didn't even know their was a missing year in the books, but then I found it really hard to follow along.
