Early Riker

Outside of Imzadi or Deny Thy Father are there any books, either through main text or flashback that deal with Riker's Pre-Enterprise career?

I glanced through Memory Beta, but it didn't exactly seem comprehensive and I was hoping to see if anyone knew. Riker's one of my favorites from TNG and I'd love to see more. I'd even accept something like the Starfleet Academy novels from the 90s.

There was DC Comics' second TNG Annual about Riker on an academy training mission. I mainly remember it for it's use of varied ship designs - the Belknap- and Challenger-classes from fandom as well as FASA's Larson-class.

The aforementioned Deny Thy Father deals with Riker's Academy years. As for whether the Academy-enrolled Riker was adept at charming the opposite sex, the TNG novel The Forgotten War features his third-Academy-year girlfriend Janice Eardman, so that one may provide some answers.

Riker appears in one of the Voyager SA novels trying to pick up Janeway, but she brushes him off.

But aside from "Deny Thy Father" there haven't been that many books about Riker at the Academy. I think he's one of the few TNG members who haven't had their Academy days explored all that much (it's surprising the 90's SA didn't do Wesley, but then Tasha Yar hasn't had any Academy stories written either; Geordi on the other hand was kind of the runaway star of the Academy series, appearing in "Worf's First Adventure", "Capture The Flag", "Atlantis Station", "Crossfire" and "The Haunted Starship"! I don't recall him crossing over to the Voyager SA's though).

Beauty, my friend, is always in the eye of the beholder. I'm sure many people thought Kate Mulgrew looked great when she was younger. I'm also sure many people think she looks great now! You'll just have to make your own judgement.

Wasn't that in one of Jeri Taylor's books? I recognize this, but i've never read any VOY SA novels..

Yes he was but if i remmeber Mulgre just looked at him or something. It was a cameo. She did meet Picard in The Buried Age.

Thanks for the help guys. I was "afraid" Deny Thy Father was the only novel outside of Imzadi that really deals with young Riker. I'll have to check out that SA Book and Annual.

As well, reference is made to that Janeway/Riker scene in A Time to Hate.
