DW makes EW.com's top TV deaths list

Why would Doctor Who dying be meaningful? The guy just gets resurrected every time - talk about predictable. The only notable death is if they would leave him dead. Now that would be a plot twist! :rommie:

The EW list is pretty lame. Lost is the only show this year that gave us some kickass deaths, but that's easy considering it was the final season. The Walking Dead certainly has potential, but only if they have the guts to start bumping off main-credits characters (but not Shane, he's my favorite!)

DT death was very good, some people didn't like how it was dragged out but that was the point. Drag it out just to really lay on the audience's feelings, a quick death is just too easy if you want it to last then make it long.

of course the regeneration kinds of mutes the emotion to a degree ;)

I agree that it was a really moving scene, or rather a number of scenes. Tragic, too, if you count the lead-up to it (I don't want to spoil the details here). Even though, the Doctor lives on, I think it should count as death because as the Doctor pointed out, that particular Doctor will be dead and "this other guy saunters on."

Yeah, each regeneration is pretty much the 'death' of that particular Doctor. The Doctor's personality is re-arranged as well as his physical body. The "new" Doctor has different tastes, a different attitude towards life sometimes, a different attitude towards companions and of course a different catchphrase etc. hence Tennant's last words "I don't want to go".

To be fair, there was a ressurection of Tennant's Doctor earlier in the series-he was about to regenerate in "The Stolen Earth" but in the next episode through some technobabble, he was able to keep his appearence. And also it's possible Tennant's Doctor might return in some capacity in an anniversary special, as has been the case in the past with other Doctors. And also another Time Lord, the Master, returned as John Simm despite being shot and cremated thanks to some weird science.

Well, I hope we'll see him again in a possible multi-Doctor story for the 50th anniversary but I won't hold my breath.

I definitely agree with Number One. I bawled like a baby, even though I didn't like the finale.

To me, I thought it was great to have the Doctor's personal feelings about regeneration. It was really confirmation of stuff we already knew that each Doctor was unique, albeit the same person essentially. The Tenth Doctor loved being the Tenth Doctor and held off his regeneration as long as he possibly could until he couldn't any longer, IMO...
