DS9 Voyager Crossover ideas

Apart from Caretaker, Mirror Tuvok appearing, the USS Bellerophon (Hey it was an Intrepid Class ship), and random times Voyager would mention DS9 we never really got a crossover episode. So what are some good ideas for one. A good one for me would be actually meeting Samantha Wildmans husband on DS9 and him begging Captain Sisko to take the Defiant and search the Badlands for his wife. Maybe see him in counseling.

Jake Sisko, sensing the story of a lifetime, wants to interview the crew of Voyager.

Since under normal circumstances he obviously can't be there in person, Q offers to help with that. But of course there would be problems:

- Ben would naturally object, even though Q would ensure nothing happened to Jake and would send him back home when the interviews were complete.
- Some of Voyager's crew might wonder, if Q is bothering to do this in the first place, why wouldn't he send the whole ship home?

Message in a Bottle was a type of crossover: not only was it set against the Dominion War, it featured two Defiant type ships.

Samantha Wildman's husband was on DS9, at least according to dialogue, but it is not clear whether or not he was posted there. It would have been interesting to meet him. Having him press Sisko to pursue Voyager seems a little on the nose for the character. On the other hand, he could have featured as a recurring character for texture, more like Nog and Leeta than Dukat, who could give more of a "widower's" perspective to the series. Or maybe he could have been a feature member of Kasidy Yates' crew.

I always liked the idea put forward by the To The Journey podcast: if Seven of Nine hadn't been created for the series, find some way of bringing Dax onto Voyager. Of course, it would require some sort of contivance, like a freak test on a wormhole or something. Once aboard, Dax takes Chakotay's place as first officer, after he has a mysterious death.

Another idea: Voyager discovers one of the lost Bajoran orbs. They attempt to use it to contact the Alpha Quadrant. It doesn't work, but they interact with the Prophets in the guise of DS9 characters. Janeway could get an "Emissary"-type experience, going over her choices over the course of her lifetime and trying to come to terms with her role.

unlikely - I'm fairly sure that Gres was in Starfleet just like Samantha was.

Although I agree that there's no evidence that either of them were ever actually posted to DS9. Gres probably accompanied Samantha there because it was where Voyager was due to pick her up.

And assuming that Gres and Samantha were about the same age, they were probably of similar rank as well, so Gres wouldn't have had much of a hook to press Sisko to launch an investigation. Heck, I'm not entirely sure DS9 even had the Defiant at the time Voyager was lost...

They had the Defiant before Voyager launched the Defiant. The Defiant premiered in star date 48212.4 Caretaker took place 48315.6

Ezri Dax could have been a part of the crew for S6 & S7. Imagine this story…

On the way back to DS9 on a runabout from a conference, Ezri Dax get caught in a subspace rift and ends up in the Delta Quadrant. Voyager encounters the derelict runabout and bring her on board. They make her a part of the crew after being unable to figure out how to sent her back to DS9.

As for original stories of mine:

- During a data dump to Starfleet, a subroutine glitch that affects all Federation computers in the Alpha Quadrant results in The Doctor accidentally switching locations with Vic Fontaine. And while the Doctor is stuck on DS9, Vic has managed to replace Neelix as morale officer when he gets a hold of Doctor’s mobile emitter.

- Thinking a wormhole is a shortcut, Voyager accidently travels to the mirror universe, where the Dominion lords over both the Gamma & Delta Quadrants, and have been battling against a Kazon-Hirogen-Vidiian resistance for decades.

I don't think Dax would have worked because as far as we know there were no other Trill on board so in the event she might have died... well you know.

I'm not sure why Q would want to help Jake particularly.

Maybe if Jake were in a rebellious phase against Ben, as a way of getting back at Ben for punching him? Even though I'm sure Ben's punch bothered Q about as much as a fly trying to punch me would bother me.

Hm. That might have been a good alternate way of getting rid of Jadzia at the end of Season 6. Not as painful as killing her, and leaves the possibility open of her showing up again for the series finale.

Oh god, I'm not sure who got the worst of that deal! Vic substituting for a doctor, with all the casual first aid a 1962 singer would know, or The Doctor trying to entertain people in a lounge...

The whole ship? I don't think they've ever had more than a couple of people at a time travel to the mirror universe.

Dr. Kate Jennings enters a psychiatric hospital where she is scoffed at and looked down upon, treated as little more than a nurse. She is given lots of difficult patients in an attempt to make her quit, but she sticks to her guns and keeps doing what she is there to do, to help people.

One day, Dr. Wykoff gives her a new patient, one so deluded and volatile that she will surely hand in her resignation. She arrives at the patients room and opens the door to find a man strapped to his bed, clearly distressed and muttering to himself. As she tries to talk to him there is no response to her questions, until she asks what he needs and he says a pencil and paper. Despite being told, under no condition to release him or give him any writing implement, she does just that, which seems to bring him out of his stupor and he finally focuses on her.

She tells him that she is there to help him and extends her hand and introduces herself. He takes it and tells her his name is Benny Russell. They begin talking, beginning in his fantasy world and what it all means to him in the context of the real world. It turns into a very impactful conversation about they burdens and discriminations they face and the fragility of mental health, spread out over a number of sessions. One day Jennings returns to Benny's room and finds him asleep, though there are a stack of papers beside his bed, under the title "Voyager" and as Jennings starts to read she is shocked to find the Captain is a woman called Kathryn Janeway, who bears a remarkable resemblance to herself.

As she finishes she looks over the top to see Benny is awake and watching her. When she asks what the story is for or what it means. He tells her, "You are the dreamer and the dream."

Captain Kathryn Janeway wakes up in her quarters, clearly a little uncertain about where she is for a moment, until the door chimes and she answers it to find Neelix with a breakfast tray for her and wishes her a pleasant day. She picks up the coffee mug and goes to stand by the window where she sees Benny standing behind her.

Meanwhile on DS9, Sisko (holding a raktajino) looks into the viewport and sees Dr. Jennings standing before him.

There was the "False Profits" episode where some Ferengi used a wormhole and ended up in the Delta quadrant.

What about the wormhole aliens sending the Defiant and maybe some of the Dominion fleet into the Delta quadrant instead of the normal entry/exit points.

The Defiant and Voyager team up to take out the Dominion fleet, but only the Defiant is able to make it back via the wormhole before it shuts down permanently.

Alternatively all 3 parties team up out of necessity to take out some Borg. Odo can take back information of the Borg to the founders and use it try help end the Dominion war.

I would love if a female captain had not been in the initial draft, but that Benny made changes that made Kathryn Janeway through the process of Jennings interacting with him. In essence, give them Jennings character more a hand in the creation of the Voyager story.

Nonetheless, great idea.

:luvlove: You should send this to Avery :)

Would the Short Treks folks look at an unsolicited idea? Some of those ideas would work better visually than on the radio.

Not sure where it falls into the timeline but to see Garak and Belana go head to head would of been great.
