DS9 Relaunch speculation (may contain Spoilers)

it's been a while since I read the DS9-R novels (pretty much since Warpath came out) and as the next novel isn't due for a few months (providing it stays on schedule) I was wondering about the future of the series, especially as relates to the Trek pocket books line in general.

As most 24th century series are now happening pretty much concurrently (2380-ish) i.e. TNG, Titan, NF - and I think that the Voyager series (if one continues) will also "jump forward" (perhaps after Destiny?), do you think the DS9 series will also be grounded in the same period (once the current arc concludes, that is)?

On a similar note, if Marco and TPTB decide to move the series forward in time, I think that there aren't many plotlines that need immediate resolving (rather than the Ghemor plotline) - your opinion?

Last, best wishes and Holiday greetings for everyone :)

As far as I know, there are no plans to artificially rush the DS9 Relaunch forward to "catch up" with the other series. The policy has always been that the various series should advance at whatever pace works best for them. Since the TNG and TTN series are both set not too long post-Nemesis, it was decided that it was feasible to have them catch up and overlap in next year's big Destiny crossover. But there's no guarantee they'll stay in synch thereafter, or that any of the other series will.

As for VGR, all we officially know is that Destiny will give some hints about the future direction of VGR fiction. That statement is vague enough that it could just as easily apply to VGR fiction set before Destiny as after it.

SCE is actually a little behind DS9-R isn't it? Or have they caught up since the last crossover?

As of Remembrance of Things Past Book 2, COE is in August 2377. As of Warpath, DS9 is in January 2377.

If you're just going by the dead-tree versions, then yes, they're a bit behind. The next print volume, Wounds, contains stories that all take place in December 2376, between the two stories in Worlds of DS9 Volume 3.

Edited to fix my date screwup....
